Ready to unleash your inner dragon? 🐉 If you and your friends or colleagues would like to join the Alfie's Wish team for the return of the EPIC @dragonboatevents Dragon Boat Race. The event is being held on September 7th, 2024. Being held again at the beautiful Hythe Marina, we are uniting with our friends to raise awareness of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️ @abbysheroes @georgesrockstars @georgestrust @HannahsHolidayHome @dylansquest @sophiesappeal @Sophieslegacy @theisabelbakerfoundation @alfieswish Dragon boating is a fun-filled, adrenaline pumping, water sports activity. Teams compete in Dragon Boats, which are large canoe-like vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon's heads and tails. Crews of up to 16 people sit in pairs and paddle to compete in races over distances of around 250m. Each boat has a drummer beating time to keep the paddlers in unison, and a professional helmsperson in the stern to guide the boat. Dragon boating truly is the ultimate sport for all abilities and no previous experience is required as full training will be given on the day, min age 12 years old. Grab 16 friends or colleagues (or soon-to-be-friends!), a drummer to keep the beat, and get ready for a day of splashing good times. No experience? No sweat! This is pure, hilarious fun for all abilities – you won't train until RACE DAY. The cost? A £20 deposit (non-refundable) to secure your spot, then raise £100 for charity (and score a sweet team top!). It's a win-win for you, your muscles, and a worthy cause.
