Cribraria cancellata ❤️#slimemoldsunday My first time capturing this species found by eagle eyed @barrywebbimages in Sussex. I carefully blew the spores out to reveal the beautiful cage like structure. I had the best day out with Barry & @gillphotog We found about 7 or 8 species, not bad for a dry spell.

Stemonitis sp 🤍 #slimelapse Using the new battery pack got me further than before. 21:00 start, alarm set for 12:30am, then another alarm for 2:30am. With only 5% 🪫left I decided to call it, just missing the red phase. 6am check and it has already gone dark. Still cool, but not the full development I had hoped for. #timelapse #myxomycetes #slimemould #slimemold #stemonitis #chocolatetubeslimemold #slimemoldsofinstagram #slimemouldsofinstagram #myxomycetesuk #forestfinds #naturelovers #macronature #imsosleepy #timelapses #timelapsephotography #nurturenature #sciencecommunication #allthingsfungiandsomeslimemould #allthingsfungi

Gibellula is a genus of parasitic fungi which attacks arachnids. 🕷️ If you came to @allthingsfungifestival last year you probably had the pleasure of witnessing this species found by @damontighe It was my number 1/2 discovery from last year’s festival. I can’t wait to experience the results of what so many eyes can find at this years festival :) That specimen made its way to @kewgardens to be sequenced by Sandro @aaagorini as part of the Darwins Tree of Life project. Hopefully, we’ll have more info on that in due course. The species pictured here was found in Lucmabamba, Peru. 🇵🇪 #allthingsfungi

The most delicate little mushrooms covered in #droplets 🍑💧🫶 Marasmius sp. A seemingly prolific genus in the Peruvian Amazon. Lots of first time finds for me including these. 🇵🇪 Image two showing a double headed #mushroom with the caps (pileus) yet to open. Bonus points if you can you spot the little bug hiding in both pics 🔍🕵️ #allthingsfungi

Someone’s enjoying the humidity 💛 and potentially plotting my demise 😳 #slimemoldsofinstagram This one’s jacked up on oats having more than doubled in size since I collected it. It lives in a damp food container with holes in. Not all #myxomycetes like oats as I’ve found out with #slimon but this one is very easy to manage, aside from the oats being a touch smelly on occasions. Catch up with #mypetslimes on my story highlights 👆

Lycogala cf. conicum #slimemoldsunday It was my lucky day, this tiny fly sat still long enough for a quick focus stack. 😃🪰 Swipe to see the scale image 👉 I’ve not found this species of slime mould before, based on the size and shape I suspect this is L conicum although I wasn’t able to collect to confirm with microscopy. I often find Lycogala epidendrum, possibly other similar looking (wolfs milks)in the UK. L conicum seems to have a more distinct egg shape and I’ve wanted to find it for AGES! Stoked to come across this in the Peruvian Amazon🇵🇪 fingers crossed I get to find it at home soon 🤞#myxomycetes

Paraisaria amazónica 🦗 I found this one whilst capturing some slimes mould. You can just about see them (bottom left) The pinkish fertile heads stood out from the leaf litter and thankfully, it was easy to extract without damaging. Paraisaria is a genus in the #ophiocordycipitaceae family. Most records seem to be from Central and South America in the Tropics. #zombiefungus

Marasmius sp. 🍄‍🟫 I saw a recent post by @mandie_quark with a similar species ID’d as Marasmius griseoradiatus. Could this be??? Very few records apparently, all from central / South America. Found in the Peruvian Amazon @shintuyahotsprings 🇵🇪 #allthingsfungi

Some of my personal favourites! Image 1: The infamous 1-Amanita-Muscaria 🍄 Arguably the most famous mushroom in the world and in my opinion, still underrated. Image 2: Rhodotus palmatus - Wrinkled peach covered in guttation (in simple terms a kind of ’mushroom sweat‘) an uncommon find in the UK. Image 3: Pilobolus sp. Dung cannon - hat thrower. Pressure builds up behind the black sporangium (Spore sack) and it fires off beating the initial acceleration of a bullet, it can travel up to 2 meters! 😳 Considering they’re so small, that’s quite remarkable. The sporangium then gets eaten by grazing animals and passes through their digestive tract to start over again. 💩 These are super fun to collect, a bit like the slime moulds, herbivore dung can be collected and incubated for home education projects if natural spaces are hard to reach. Make sure you get permission from the homeowner. Image 4: Mycena sp. a large genus many are common year round. Got to catch ’em all! Image 5: Psilocybe liniformans. One of the lesser-documented UK Psilocybes, Thanks @Kowafunga x Image 6: Entomophthora muscae. A fungal pathogen that infects flies found whilst examining cow poo for coprophilous (dung-loving) Fungi. Thanks for reading and supporting me. For more info please follow me or join us at the UK‘s first festival dedicated to All Things Fungi @allthingsfungifestival

A few rare and unusual #Fungi    Image 1: Entoloma sp.    Image 2: Dendrocollybia racemosa - branched shanklet. The branches, spherical slimeheads of translucent conidiophores produce conidia (asexual spores) This fungus can rely on either sexual or asexual modes of reproduction. Pretty neat!    Image 3: Clathrus archeri - Devil‘s Fingers / Octopus stinkhorn. A non-native species which is rare across the UK but common locally in areas in the South. It is thought to have been brought to the UK on the boots of soldiers from the Southern hemisphere during WW2.    Image 4: Phaeomarasmius erinaceus - Hedgehog scalycap    Image 5: Phaeolepiota aurea - Golden Bootleg found at Kew Gardens London. #fungilover #mycology #allthemushroomtags #allthingsfungi #mushroomhunters #naturelovers
