El Hafla, full of culture, art and dance. Join us on Saturday, March 30th at 7:00pm for an Arabic-style evening where we will have a brief talk about Natalie Nazario’s experiences living in Egypt in combination with performances by local dancers and our guest dancers of Raks Al Zahra.

Alura is subbing for @hanluckybee while she is vacationing in Spain.
Who is Alura? Specializing in the art of Middle Eastern dance, Alura has 20 years of dance training in a variety of genres, including samba, Jazz and Afro-Caribbean dance. Alura currently dances with Raks Al Zahra under the direction of Natalie Nazario since 2019. Alura also devotedly serves as Artistic Director of CU Raqs Al Sharki at Columbia University. She completed her MA in Socio-cultural Anthropology at Columbia (Graduate School of Arts & Sciences) in 2016 and continues to study as a post-bacc student at Columbia’s School of Professional Studies. Alura is one of the original members of the Dalia Carella Dance Collective. Alura’s experience with collaborative performance projects also includes PURE, produced by Kaeshi Chai. At the heart of Alura’s love for dance is a desire to continually learn, share, resonate and uplift.
Love is all around you! 💗💗💗 Treat yourself to a dance workshop, incorporating a moving meditation, an invigorating warm up, Egyptian-style drills, and a romantic choreography to the classic Enta El Hob. Raks Al Zahra is performing our production Arabian Odyssey, in celebration of the 9th Anniversary. We will be presenting through dance a part of Middle East and how important is for us to connect and learn the great diversity of the world. We need more experience with contrasting environments to avoid conflict and division. Join us on journey through countries like Bahrain, Lebanon, Palestine and Egypt.
