📍 Nice 🇨🇵 is located on the French Riviera, the southeastern coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea, at the foot of the French Alps. It is the second-largest French city on the Mediterranean coast and is approximately 13 kilometres (8 mi) from the principality of Monaco. 😊 𝔽𝕦𝕟 𝕗𝕒𝕔𝕥: Nice was not always French. Originally, the district of Nice belonged to the House of Savoy, which was the ruling family of the Kingdom of Sardinia. Only in the year 1860, Nizza became a part of France. This happened after Italy reluctantly gave it up to repay France for helping them to defend themselves against the Austrians.  🏠 ℙ𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕪: Hotel Le Negresco. It overlooks the beach and the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from Nice’s Old Town and Nice-Ville Train Station. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is just 5 km from the hotel. ⏱ 𝔹𝕖𝕤𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕧𝕚𝕤𝕚𝕥: Late June to mid September. This is an excellent time to visit the South of France with great weather. To enjoy warm but not too hot weather and smaller crowds, come in late August to mid September. 🍽 𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕕: Salade Nicoise. The original salad, served in Nice over a century ago, was a simple combination of tomatoes, anchovies and olive oil. Over the years, other ingredients have been added like tuna, hard-boiled eggs, potatoes and green beans. Pissaladiere. This snack food has a crust like a pizza, but it’s square instead of round and there’s no cheese or sauce. Instead, a pissaladière is topped with caramelized onions, black olives and anchovies. The name comes from the ancient Ligurian word for “salted fish.” 👉𝔽𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨 @alwaysonthego.uk for travel inspiration and places worth visiting! #france  #nice #nicefrance #frenchriviera #southoffrance #alwaysonthego .uk #family #familytime #familytravel #travelinspiration #travelinspo #francetravel #frenchfood #holidays #holidayinitaly #familygoals #familyadventures #onthego #travelfamily #exploringtheglobe #exploringtheworld #dowhatmakesyouhappy

📍 ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕒𝕦 𝔻𝕦 ℍ𝕒𝕦𝕥-𝕂𝕠𝕖𝕟𝕚𝕘𝕤𝕓𝕠𝕦𝕣𝕘 🇨🇵 is located in Alsace, a cultural region and a territorial collectivity in eastern France, on the west bank of the upper Rhine next to Germany and Switzerland. Alsatian culture is characterized by a blend of German and French influences. 😊 𝔽𝕦𝕟 𝕗𝕒𝕔𝕥: The château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg is one of France's great medieval castles. Perched on a rocky hill at an altitude of 757 metres, Haut-Kœnigsbourg commands incredible views on the vineyards of the Alsatian Plain. This red-sandstone fortress dates back to the 12th century, 🏠 ℙ𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕪: La Cheneaudiere. It makes a wonderful base for discovering Alsace and the Vosges Mountains. Strasbourg and Colmar are 1 hour's drive away, the hotel is set in the Bruche Valley, close to the Alsace Wine Route. The refined and modern rooms overlook the forests or the mountains. ⏱ 𝔹𝕖𝕤𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕧𝕚𝕤𝕚𝕥: May, June, September and December. During these months, the weather is pleasant and there are fewer tourists. You’ll be able to experience all that Alsace has to offer without feeling overwhelmed. In December it is crowded with tourists visiting for the amazing Christmas markets. 🍽 𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕕: Tarte flambee. The Alsatian equivalent of the Pizza, though extremely different. It is made of a thin layer of dough, covered with crème fraîche,  cheese, onions, and bacon (lardons in French). It is baked very quickly in an extremely hot oven so that it gets crispy. Kugelhopf. This cake is similar, in shape to the American Bundt cake, is baked with almonds and raisins and topped with powdered sugar on top. 👉𝔽𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨 @alwaysonthego.uk for travel inspiration and places worth visiting! #france  #alsace #alsacefrance #chateaufrance #chateauduhautkoenigsbourg #franceholiday #alwaysonthego .uk #family #familytime #familytravel #travelinspiration #travelinspo #francetravel #frenchfood #holidays #holidayinitaly #familygoals #familyadventures #onthego #travelfamily #exploringtheglobe #exploringtheworld #dowhatmakesyouhappy

📍𝕍𝕒𝕣𝕖𝕟𝕟𝕒 🇮🇹 is a small picturesque town on the eastern shore of Lake Como in Italy. If you're looking for a few days away in a picture postcard place that is easy to get to, then I'd say you need to look no further than Varenna. It is not overrun by tourists, it's laidback and it is stunningly beautiful and peaceful in so many ways. If you’re looking to rest and regroup, I cannot imagine a more suitable place than Varenna. 😊 𝔽𝕦𝕟 𝕗𝕒𝕔𝕥: The village was founded by fishermen in 768 AD, due to its strategic position and proximity to abundant sources of fish. Later on it became part of Lake Como. 🏠 ℙ𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕪: Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni. Owned a family for 3 generations, Villa Serbelloni stands at the end of the Bellagio promontory, with views of Lake Como and the Alps. It features 2 gardens, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and a spa with beauty centre. The property boasts impressive staircases and frescoed ceilings. The grand hall, the Salone Reale, features splendid chandeliers in Murano glass. ⏱ 𝔹𝕖𝕤𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕧𝕚𝕤𝕚𝕥: May and June are especially beautiful months to visit the region, as the rhododendrons and azaleas in the lakeside gardens begin to bloom. Also Lake Como holds its annual festival between June and September, complete with many musical performances and fireworks around the lake. 🍽 𝔽𝕠𝕠𝕕: Polenda. Italy's creamy cornmeal is a staple of many dishes in the north of the country, and Lake Como is no exception. You'll see polenta prepared in a variety of ways all over the lake, one of our favorites is polenta balota. Missoltino. The missoltini are small shads from the lake, they are put in salt and dried for days. It has a distinct salty taste and it's nornally served with vinegar and polenta, certainly a delicacy for the brave ones! 👉𝔽𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕠𝕨 @alwaysonthego.uk for travel inspiration and places worth visiting! #lakecomo #varenna #italytravel #alwaysonthego .uk #family #familytime #familytravel #travelinspiration #travelinspo #italytravel #italyfood #holidays #holidayinitaly #familygoals #familyadventures #onthego #travelfamily #exploringtheglobe #exploringtheworld #dowhatmakesyouhappy
