Perfect stroll breathing in the floral aroma of jasmine, vanilla & coconut scent of fig trees & sagey tones of wild herbs.
As the sun set we stopped for dinner at Paradise restaurant on Anaxos beach, we enjoyed it so much the last time we came here. Last time was a pre wedding family gathering going on but they still welcomed us, it’s easy to see why people return here time and time again 🫶
I choose the stuffed tomatoes and green pepper, usually at home I prefer red peppers but the green ones here taste so sweet. The rice was so tasty & full of herbs. All the salad and veg tastes so good - beautiful in its simplicity harnessing Seasonal local ingredients. Scooped the tzatziki up with sesame bread & shared a Greek salad with salty olives & juicy tomatoes.
Embracing the slow pace - there’s no rush here & there’s always time for an ouzo - yamas 🇬🇷

Love finishing work opening the blinds of my treatment room after being in there all day and seeing sunshine and blue skies 🌞☀️
Uplifted & ready for a wee wander. A local nature spot that was bulldozed for development & put up for sale a year ago is thankfully still for sale. I wish I could save it!
The wild flowers have made a come back, it’s covered in clover, mugwort, foxgloves, hairy willow herb, brambles & buzzing with insects and birdsong 💚🌱🌿
Nature is so resilient, shows such strength and courage, we have a lot to learn from her.
Couldn’t resist a slice of nettle and poppyseed cake with a dollop of elderflower & lemon curd for pudding. Had job on to not polish off the jar full, it’s a shame not to indulge when the elderflowers are just perfect to gather.

Day 1 of the @britishwildfoodfestival 💚
After setting up camp on Friday afternoon, Lucy treated us to a delicious mocktail with wild rose syrup 🌸 It was so wonderful chatting to everyone as they arrived.
We headed off to explore on Day 1 - into the grand valley passing through the “rubbish flowers” crafted by @foragersam 😮🌸🌱🌿🌼
The air was filled with excitement for the 1st ever British Wild Food Festival. The grand valley was buzzing with stalls - ceramics, wild crafted chocolates, hand carved whistles, pizzas, BBQ, crafted shrooms, Scottish wild booze from @buckandbirch - a divine Birch Sap inspired tipple put a spring in our step & aided the wander to the caves for an incredible demo from @chefjoebartlett .
Such a joy to listen to how Joe creates delicious dishes inspired from his love of nature. We tucked into the most incredible canapés - I could have stayed all day but it was time to head to the monument to set up for our workshop - wild plant medicine & creating teas, balms, tonics & get the kettle on to make a wild brew.
Giddy to bump into Liz whose workshop was next to mine, the time passed too quickly I would have loved to joined hers too.
It was time to head back to the campsite for a quick turnaround & get ready for Craig’s wild food inspired fine dining feast. Such a wonderful evening, loved everything about it.

The Holy Church of the Virgin Mary Glykophilousa - the church of the sweet kisses built on a volcanic rupture in Petra, Lesvos.
114 steps up to the church built in 1747 and what a panoramic view of Petra and the Aegean Sea.
Wandered around the narrow cobbled streets below, intrigued to discover so many wild plants and flowers. Figs and pomegranates yet to ripen but so many fragrant Greek herbs and flowers, really beautiful.
A little pitstop for a frappe to cool down, loved the owners tray to carry the drinks. He found it when he was clearing the cellar. It belonged to his grandfather and he had so much pride using it. Such a friendly place to stop at the Mermaid Restaurant at Petra Beach.
I’m loving this break so much - although I usually find it hard to keep still I’m learning the art of slowing down 🫶🇬🇷🩵

Trip to revisit Molyvos 14 years on. Fell in love with Lesvos in my 20s and the memories just keep me coming back.
It’s a very chilled way of life and one I need to adapt to for a few days and then it feels so nourishing, so needed.
Sunshine, wandering checking all the local finding shade when needed and a delicious lunch @misirlou_grill_and_bar . A beautiful place to take in the sunny view, a chat with the chef who has created a stunning place at the foot of the harbour. Loved the light shades made out of colanders, whisks & graters.
We chose calamares, a walnut, peach & goats cheese salad with organic leaves, grilled sardines & frites. Dips - tzatziki & homemade Bloody Mary 🫶
Heading back to Anaxos with a stop off for a glass of chilled local wine in Petra.

Pre holiday run around like a mad woman dealing with some curve balls - car off the road, emergency vet appt, wild garlic capers pickled after being salted for a week, elderflower champagne hopefully won’t blow, cleaned grubby nails, try and whittle down massive pile of books I want to take but can’t, shaved legs without my glasses on so goodness knows & right now I am not sure what is in my suitcase but it will have to do!!!!!
I am heading back into clinic & hoping for a calm few hours 🫶
Off at 3am, look forward to sharing sunsets & a fig haul 😬
Full on sunny weekend, full moon energy, Grace Jones gig @thepiecehall , morning clinics, tending to ferments and all the projects I’d started and needed to finish before taking some leave.
Nearly there……..
I’ve got the dehydrator working overtime, ferments sorted, elderflower champers in demijohns, kombucha tended to, no more foraging now until I reach my destination and I am dreaming of figs, hot Springs, juicy peaches and exploring.
Cooled down this afternoon with an elderflower & berry float, (bit healthier than the coke or limeade floats we used to have as kids 😄) & a bit of this and that salad using up some organic beetroot and carrots mixed with lacto fermented wild garlic, lemon juice and toasted sesame seeds.

at our beautiful secret location in a quiet backwater of North Lincolnshire!
We will gather in the morning and after some introductions and welcome refreshments, we will go for a gentle wander to search out and identify wild edibles to enhance our fermented creations…

On our return, it’s pinnies on and let chopping commence! Through demonstration we will introduce you to the world of brining, pickling and fermentation on a journey which might include wild sodas, krauts, kimchis, teas and champagnes….

Then it’s your turn! You will learn how to confidently prepare delicious ferments, in a fun and informative ‘hands on’ workshop.
Numbers are kept low, meaning there’s plenty of help and individual instruction, and ensuring that you go home feeling entirely confident, and buzzing with ideas and inspiration!
You will also learn just how important ferments are in our diet for gut health and well-being! 🌸
We will break for a delicious relaxed gourmet lunch… the emphasis being on local, fresh and foraged,
plant based foods… and of course a great selection of pickled and fermented concoctions for you to taste!

After lunch your fermentation journey will continue and by the end of the afternoon you will have jars crammed full of fermented foods and a head full of ideas and inspiration!
We will supply you with step by step recipes to follow throughout the seasons, as well as instructions on how to care for your creations!
