Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads, Stepdads, Wanted to be Dads, Son/Daughter of Dads, Like A Dads, and more.
But this post is ALL about my Daddy, our Papa, one of my BEST BEST friends!
“I count my blessings” is my dad’s favorite sentiment over the last few years. A man who’s endured more than one could imagine these last 5 years, a Vietnam Veteran who at 19 years old wasn’t sure if he’d ever return home to see his family again. Yet despite all his challenges, everyday he says, “I count my blessings”.
If you know my dad you know that he never complains, rolls with the punches, lives in a state of gratitude, has the most generous spirit and stands by me NO MATTER WHAT!! I tear up as I write this because one thing I can ALWAYS count on is my daddy’s love. Since I was a little girl I was perfect, more than good enough in his eyes. He’s one of my biggest fans and supporters. And it’s that father’s love to a daughter that truly carries me through in this world. His love anchored me as a young girl. In spite of divorce and distance. No one could take his love away from me.
I talk a lot about my mom and grandmother, Nana, but SOO much, if not most, of my strength, perseverance, confidence, determination, will-power, intellectual curiosity, sensibilities, and personality, including my sometimes hot-headedness 😜, comes from this man right here and I couldn’t be prouder and happier to call him my Dad!
I love you Daddy with my whole heart and being. Happy Father’s Day!
❤️,
Nicole
P.S. Daddy, stop crying now 🤣
