I am proud to (finally!) share that I am part of the stellar cast of Asim Abbasi’s (@a_abbasi ) upcoming webseries on Zee5.
I always say how surreal it is to have been part of this project, and that I get to say these words, but even more so because I had asked the Universe for exactly this:
I had visited Hunza for the first time in 2018, and had fallen in love with everything about it. I felt a deep, almost spiritual connection to the land and the skies of that gorgeous valley. I felt an overwhelming pull to it, and knew I was meant to be there.
For what exactly, only time would reveal.
The Universe conspired, as she often does, in my favour.
Pursuing acting —beyond the theatre I’d do to remedy my soul once a year— felt like a distant forbidden dream at the time. Earlier that same year, I’d seen Cake in theatres with my mom and sister. When Churails came out in 2020, we binge watched it. Twice.
And on one of those nights that I felt especially inspired, I reached out to Asim to tell him how much I loved his work, and snuck in that I act and look forward to maybe working with him someday. It felt bizarre and insignificant, but I did it anyway.
Fast forward 3 years and I’m sitting in the rehearsal space, I finally ask Asim what I’d been dying to ask since the moment I’d been contacted by his team:
“How did you find me?”
“You had messaged me after Cake, and after Churails too I believe.”
My mind was completely blown. After conducting dozens of auditions for this role, they found me through a fan message I had sent Asim three years ago. Wild.
God is real. So is magic.
I am absolutely thrilled for this project to come out, and honoured that my debut has been with my favourite writer and director, and in my favourite place in the world.
Asim, you are the best of the best. Thank you, and love you too❤️
