HELLO TEXAS!!! My name is Annette Addo-Yobo, and I am humbled, honored, and grateful to serve as your 87th Miss Texas! I made history last night as the first immigrant-born and first Ghanaian Miss Texas, and I hope to continue making history with the Texas community and the Miss Texas class. My platform, The SPARK Project, focuses on autism safety, awareness, and education. As a sibling to someone on the spectrum, I noticed the systemic inequities and lack of education and training very early. It is my mission to amplify the voices of the autistic community and ensure that legislators, decision makers, and community members see us and fight for us. A huge shout out to @missspacecitytx , @misssoutheasttexastx , @missplano.tx , and @missburlesontx for your incredible accomplishments last night. Your years of service to our state and our diverse representation on stage highlight the essence of our state and the Miss Texas Organization and Miss America Opportunity. Congratulations to our remaining Top 12 and the Miss Texas Class of 2024 for all that you accomplished at this competition and during your year of service. I can’t wait to serve each and every one of you this year. Our communities and this state are better because of each of you. Texas…LET’S GET TO WORK! #misstexas #missamerica

✨NEW HAIR REVEAL✨ For most of my life, I’ve struggled with my identity with my hair. I was made fun of in school for wearing my natural hair, and I felt insecure about my own hair even in my young adult years. For years I hid behind protective styles because I never felt beautiful with my own hair. Protective styles are amazing, but I always felt insecure once I had to take them down. But last week, I made the decision to own my hair, own my look, and to feel free and confident again. To the girl with natural curls: your hair is beautiful, no matter the length. Don’t let the world tell you your hair is not worthy to be worn. Your crown was made by God and was made perfect ❤️

AUTISM ADVOCACY ON CAPITOL HILL I had the absolute HONOR of advocating for the Autism CARES Act and the Autism Family Caregivers Act at our nation’s Capitol with federal legislators and their staff as the sole volunteer advocate for Autism Speaks! A special thank you to @autismspeaks and @autismvotes for putting this event together, and advocating on behalf of individuals with Autism and their families across the country. #advocacy #autismawareness #capitol #capitolhill #washingtondc

SISTERHOOD 👑✨ This is what the Miss America Opportunity is all about. The village behind the woman. The women who pour into you, cry with you, laugh with you, and win with you. This crown is much bigger than me. It’s a representation of ALL women. Thank you to every single woman who brought me to this incredible opportunity! #misstexas #missamerica #sisterhood

Preliminary Night 1 ✨💙 I waited to post my preliminary talent from Tuesday night until today. It is midnight going into Finals competition as I am writing this, and this talent explains my why. Autism awareness isn’t just a platform, it’s my life story. Being a caretaker and advocate for my brother taught me many things in life that have helped build me into the woman I am today. Yet it also taught me how cruel the world can be to young children who may not be able to advocate for themselves. The Miss Texas crown is much bigger than me. This crown is for every young child, teenager, and adult on the spectrum who felt alienated, abandoned, stereotyped, and unseen because of their different abilities. This crown is for l young immigrant girls who had to live a life different from everyone else because they were caregivers before they were students, friends, or teammates. This crown is for those who dare to be different. Thank you to everyone who has messaged me, came up to me and spoke to me, shared their journey with autism, and has wished me well since I performed my talent. It is always an honor to be a visible voice in the community. You all remind me of my why when I get caught up in the weeds. As I take the Miss Texas stage tonight, I hope to have a chance to show the Lone Star state my why one more time. I’m ready, are you? #misstexas #missamerica #misssouthlaketx

Preliminary Night 3 ✨👑👸🏾 I am HONORED to have won Overall Preliminary Health & Fitness yesterday with my sister queen Sadie! Late last year, I had a major health scare that pushed me to make my health and fitness a priority. This included moving my body for at least 45 minutes a day, eating healthy and balanced meals, and giving myself time to rest. A HUGEEE shoutout to @carriespilatesdallas and @dallasboulderingproject for helping me keep fit and stay in shape! Thank you to @marganawood and her family for providing this scholarship! Swipe to see my reaction 😂 (which was pure shock)
