The first week of daily radiation treatments at the hospital is now over, and I’m sitting here in my living room feeling exhausted, tearful, grateful, overjoyed, and more than happy all at once. Despite my mixed condition, I can look back on a beautiful week.
On my walks to RIGET (Rigshospitalet), I was one day stopped by a young woman in Nørrebro who had the same hairstyle as me, and she showed me her BALABEANIE. A woman cycled past me the following day and shouted, “Get well; I’m a fan.” In the yarn shop Uldstedet, I received a handwritten greeting from a woman from Portland who was on holiday in Copenhagen. When the shop staff told her I was shopping with them, she wrote a message to me. These may seem like minor incidents, but they mean so much to me because it makes me feel that I am not alone in my situation and that my work with hand knitting is also relevant to others.
Although I’m starting to feel more like myself, I’ve made significant progress in my treatment, and I can see the end goal; there are still days when I feel drained and exhausted. It takes time for the body to recover from its challenges during this journey.
Thanks a million to all of you. It warms my heart to read your greetings. I hope you have lovely plans for the weekend. For me, this weekend will consist of knitting time and slow walks.
I wish you the most beautiful Saturday.
