ABC sacked me for sharing this HRW post.
ABC had already twice reported this exact @humanrightswatch report. (Swipe)
My direct manager told Fair Work Commission she sees nothing wrong with my post. We’d talked about only posting from reputable sources.
The FWC ruling also notes ABC received heaps of complaints from pro-Israel lobbyists simply because I was on air. (Swipe)
Not for anything I had done on air.
Yet 7 months on, ABC is tripling down.

If you didn’t watch the whole 90 minute U.S Presidential debate, The Antoinettes have you covered. We are still deciding whether to laugh or scream over what transpired.
American Antoinette has many thoughts and some pressing questions about why exactly golf, porn stars, and name calling played such a big role in the debate.
The other Antoinette is a former debating coach and university debating champion — and naturally she has a rebuttal and adjudication to deliver.
And of course — The Antoinettes can’t agree on whether a game of Sudoku or a staring competition should determine who becomes President.

An honour to share that I’m the 2024 recipient of the Voltaire Human Rights award for my work as a journalist, broadcaster and advocate for human rights, diversity and mental health.
Previous winners include tennis player/disability advocate Dylan Alcott, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, Sophie Trevitt advocate for raising the age of criminal responsibility and Children of Tanya Day (the Yorta Yorta woman who tragically died in police custody).
ANNOUNCEMENT:
“The Liberty Victoria Voltaire Human Rights Award honours a person who has made an outstanding contribution to human rights, free speech and/or civil liberties, with particular emphasis on progressing freedom, respect, equality, dignity and action. Antoinette’s body of professional work evidences a dedication to these ideals and a willingness to defend them despite significant external pressure and the personal price required.
As a woman from a Lebanese and working-class background working in the Australian media, Antoinette has used her voice to speak in support of a range of causes. Some of these are deeply personal and painful for her and reflect her perspective which comes from a place of difference from most of the faces seen in mainstream media. Her book ‘How to Lose Friends and Influence White People’ aims to help people effectively champion change and racial equality. She’s also an ambassador for the parent’s mental health through the Gidget Foundation, following debilitating post-natal depression. She has particularly championed diversity & inclusion in media as a co-founder of Media Diversity Australia.
Antoinette has recently come to national & international attention after she was sacked by the ABC for resharing a post by Human Rights Watch which reported starvation being used as a weapon of war against civilians in Gaza. She responded to this by reaffirming her views that “a journalist is meant to stand up and expose abuses of power…A journalist is meant to report without fear or favour.” Antoinette has ignited a conversation on free speech, the importance of an independent public broadcaster, the way race & political opinion can be weaponised against some Australians.”

The latest cult making headline is a fascinating mixture of TikTok, popular dancers and a church and the fallout is playing out real time.
It is also alleged that ‘cults’ grew during COVID and some spread anti-vaccination ideas.
It’s easy to be judgy about people who get caught up in a cult, and make generalisations about who is most likely to be lured.
But you may be surprised about who is most likely to join a cult and why. In this episode, one Antoinette is considering joining a dance cult, while the other shares her journey when a cult tried to recruit her.

We’re talking and arguing about it all, tomorrow morning. New episode available on Thursday, wherever you stream!

Mediation was unsuccessful today which is incredibly disheartening. The next step is a trial before the Federal Court of Australia. Despite how hard this has been on me and how unfair it is, let me be clear — I WILL NOT STOP.
I will not stop fighting for press freedom.
I will not stop fighting for human rights.
I will not stop fighting for a brave and independent ABC, a public broadcaster that doesn’t bow to lobby groups.
I am buoyed by and grateful for so much public support, support from the MEAA and from my journalism peers.
Thank you also to my lawyers @mauriceblackburnlawyers and @thepassionatelawyer .
If you’re willing and able to contribute to my legal fees there’s a GoFundMe link in my bio.
