Upon reflection, the algo hamster wheel really is NOT it 🫠 I know social media is a great way to connect and promote but it's also very volatile and taxing. As someone recently reminded me, let's all just do what we can and spend our best hours on art and other things we love instead 🥲

But this is NOT how I got into embroidery 👇
This was a “1 year dating anniversary” gift for my boyfriend at the time 🤭
I wanted to personalize a gift for him, but still make it ✨subtle✨ so I hid the embroidery inside the pocket of a t-shirt I bought him. We were doing long distance and I wanted him to have me close to his heart 🙃 (it worked, we’ve been married 5 years)
🪡How I ACTUALLY got into embroidery was when a friend gifted me a beginner’s kit ~4 years ago. Once I started stitching I told her “this is either going to be something I do once and never again, or it’s going to be the hobby that takes over my life”. 🙊
Now, I’m making my own embroidery art and doing commissions and launching my own website and growing with the community of stitchers and makers that I found here 🥹

✏️I start with the client's initials and a blank page. I don't reuse designs for these because I want it to truly be one-of-a-kind!
📏I trace the hoop size directly onto my paper so I can see the scale and proportions while I draw.
🌼 I try to base the flowers on what is seasonal (unless clients want a specific type or colour of flower) because often that's what florists are working with for wedding orders

Baby girl is 3 months old! She's not a newborn anymore 🥹
Which means I'm one quarter of the way through these monthly hoops! Can't wait to show you all 12 at the end🗓️
Sometimes I dream of the day where both girls are finally past chaotic toddlerhood and I can maybe have more space and energy to do embroidery (instead of feeling like I am always squeezing it in at night when they're asleep 😅)
But I'm also wishing time would not pass so quickly. Any parents of littles who can relate?

When one of my best friends got married five years ago, we got hit with a freak summer HAIL storm followed by rain, just as the ceremony ended.
We cant control the weather, so what else can we do other than make the most of it ?🤷♀️

Do you stitch your greenery first or last?
Because I only loosely sketch my designs before I start, I like to place my flowers first so I can get a feel for the overall balance. Many times, the stems and leaves don't end up exactly where I originally planned them 💭

The best thing about tiny projects on tiny hoops is portability 🪡 Packed everything in a little pouch to bring and stitch at my friend's place today. Easily portable projects is key to getting my embroidery done with two babies in the house 😅 This is me protecting my time!! 💪
