Miss Indiana Week Outfits
There is a huge stereotype around pageantry and financial access- which I can acknowledge can be a barrier to access for many- especially when people continue to promote the need for new, bigger and better when competing even if you have something that works (fun fact- I have worn my talent dress and earrings at at least 14 different appearances/competitions).
For me, fashion this year was a huge part of my week and who I am as a titleholder. Style is one of the 4 points of the crown, and for me, it was so important to show that although my access to fashion is sometimes harder due to exclusive sizing, I wanted to show style doesn’t equal size. Part of learning to love who I am has been through fashion- and I want to show it!
When I discuss my fashion- it is classy with a twist. Rather it is color, shape, or neckline- I am always wanting to blend trendy with flare- and this week, I did just that. Some outfits I chose to invest in- some reuse what I own, and some I found affordable/second hand pieces I loved and would have bought even if they were not second hand. Finding personal style is a journey not a destination and I loved showing this era of my style.
I did realize…. I didn’t get photos of every rehearsal outfit somehow but I promise there are all some version of @fabletics and @oldnavy leggings and tennis skirts.
