Honored to host an intimate dinner and introduce @gilesduley ’s new series ‘The Things They Carried’. These powerful large format photographs of landmines and UXO’s challenge our understanding and relationship with war and its lethal legacy. Alongside these works is Duley’s photo diary from Ukraine 2021-2024. Avoiding the portrayal of violence and frontline photographs, it offers a personal insight into the lives of those living through war. Duley is also a chef @onearmedchef and created a supper that reflected the ethos of @atelierjoile —a menu of recycled, reused, and zero waste dishes that celebrate the food source and stories tied to their origin. And our own @eatoffbeat cafe made the desserts to close out a beautiful, meaningful evening. 📸 @feelslikedan

This Thursday and Saturday, @simonungless is back at the atelier! Join us this week for one-on-one appointments while he’s in town. If you’d like to bring a piece for him to reimagine—or for him to work on with you collaboratively—appointments are available via the link in bio and stories. Simon was our first artist-in-residence. In addition to printing on vintage and deadstock garments, Simon has developed a new technique of mending and combining old pieces: “my goal is to get people to stop shopping, and to see what they have and can be used and worn again.” Art is at the heart of our home at 57 Great Jones, and this legacy will continue with the makers, artists and creatives who will be sharing their experience and teachings through residencies and salons.

This Thursday and Friday, Atelier Jolie has the pleasure of hosting @chazguest as our artist-in-residence at 57 Great Jones St. The New York-born painter and sculptor’s figurative painting and portraiture defines his extensive body of work as Figurative Expressionism, rich in color and movement. To celebrate his work, the Atelier is honored to hold an open studio to showcase his technique inspired by Japanese indigo dyeing. Drop in on June 13th and 14th from 3PM to 6PM to see him at work at 57 Great Jones. Classes to be announced soon.

The garments made by Japanese artist Mitsugu Sasaki (@vintagecustoman ) are patchwork creations born out of a love for old fabrics, influenced by the Sashiko sewing method. Mitsugu is one of the first designers carried at the atelier, and his work and pieces were featured in the new @VogueJapan story. Everything he makes is based on the idea of adding value to clothing that has once been discarded, using upcycled fabrics from Japan and Paris, some of which are over 100 years old. You can find select pieces by Mitsugu Sasaki at Atelier Jolie. Photo by @takuya_uchiyama_photography

We are proud to carry the work of artist Baba Diop, @XELKOM , at 57. Baba creates one-of-a-kind pieces—one of which made its way from 57 to the Met Gala red carpet. Worn by @outsidersmusical writer and composer Justin Levine, Baba shared that the coat is “one example of an entirely new piece of art, upcycled from different sources.” Baba was born and raised in Senegal, West Africa to a family of master craftspeople. XELKOM means “prosperity of the mind.” 📷 by @bmalik

We were honored to dress members of The Outsiders cast for their Broadway premiere. In keeping with the ethos of the house, they were styled in vintage garments and jewelry alongside Atelier Jolie pieces, which were made from upcycled and deadstock materials. Friend of the house and celebrated tattoo artist @markmahoney_ssc joined us at 57 Great Jones to create original art for the garments. Designer @mimiplange , who is among our Atelier Jolie family, created a custom look for @renni_anthony . It was a beautiful evening, and The Outsiders is now open on Broadway.

Last night, we hosted a conversation with artist @FerrariSheppard at our home at 57 Great Jones. What a privilege it was to sit and hear about his creative process, in a space where we welcome all creatives. We invite everyone to see his stunning new body of work, Jubilee, now open in NYC through April 25 (at 507 West 27th Street)

We are excited to offer a new Atelier Jolie workshop with @mimiplange . On Tuesday, March 26 from 6-8pm, the brilliant New York-based, Ghanaian-American designer will offer a felting workshop. Inspired by African rituals and traditions, Mimi works with felt to reinforce ideas of body adornment and decoration. Using garments as a skin, she focuses on raised surface textures and appliques to mimic African Scarifications, piercings and other forms of beauty. There are 14 available spots, and the cost of the class is $45. You can bring your garments to work on, and we will offer materials to work with. Mimi will share her techniques and approach with each student, followed by time to free felt. Everyone will take home the materials they use and create, to continue the work beyond 57. To reserve your spot, email atelier@atelierjolie.com. Spots are secured on a first come first served basis.
