I play in this really good band called @death.spa with @mmclaughlin0831 and @rodjon and we're playing tomorrow night in what has become kind of a mini-festival of sonic mayhem at @substation.seattle and you should come.
I had forgotten about this poem of my mom's until someone read it at her memorial. I love it and I wish she'd written more. Maybe she did; maybe we'll find them.
I don't know why I even read this column just now - lying on a foldout bed in my parents' basement, mentally and emotionally preparing to bury my mother this weekend - but the timing is really something. She - a longtime MM reader who is also a kind person with common sense - is the one person on this planet I would most want to discuss this with, and I can't.

Sometimes I sit down with my baritone guitar and a couple loop pedals and make weird noises for a while. I call myself Passenger Pigeon when I do that. I asked @kateplayssax and @leanninja , two of the most brilliant musicians I know, who both make inspired improvised looping music, if they'd like to play an evening of such music together sometime, and incredibly they said yes! And this is that evening. Monday 3/25 at the beautiful @royalroomseattle - you can even get dinner there!
Most of us don't get many opportunities to wield any meaningful form of political power. I'm doing what I can to make it clear that I stand against the genocide in Gaza and this administration's support of it.
