This book cleaved my cynical heart in two. I’d stopped reading during high school because I never really saw myself in books. I picked up Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe one summer in my twenties. Its honesty about the paths queerness can take brought reading back into my life, because here was something that felt real and honest. I saw my family, too, in Ari’s, and the beautiful way this story unfolded stayed with me. It inspired me to write my own queer stories.
