I was not born when 911 happened. But what I can say is that I have grown up my entire life knowing every September 11, my mom would cry. It didn’t matter if she had the TV on or if she was just staring out the window. Us kids who grew up after 9-11 don’t fully understand the total hurt of that day unless their family was directly affected. I do know that I grew up knowing the story. I grew up knowing how that day changed every American life. I grew up knowing what a blessing it is to be an American and how much I love my country. I grew up knowing that many heroes died that day. From law enforcement to firefighters, emergency crews, passengers on flight 93 who died saving the Capitol and avoiding many other lives lost. I grew up knowing that on that fateful day something changed. My mom talks about how where we lived there were many united we stand American flags in every yard. People who didn’t get along pushed aside their differences because they knew they were all Americans and that we had ALL been attacked that day. We United. I hear of all of the tragedy, I also hear of such love and heroism that I now understand the anniversary tears. I will end this with the first story my mom ever told me about that day. I was young and me and my brother were in the car, there was a firetruck in front of us and my mom started crying. I asked her why she was crying. She choked up, points and it says “let’s roll” I was confused, I looked forward and there was an American flag 9/11 and the words that said let’s roll. That night my mom told me the story of Todd Beamer. And that was the first time I fully understood the story of what happened on September 11. So with that said hug your loved ones a little tighter, and remember all of those who sacrificed and died on September 11.
Recognize your blessings, start each day new..Let’s Roll. 🇺🇸 ❤️🤍💙🇺🇸
