Rapper B.G. is facing an unusual legal request after serving 11 years in prison on two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.
The founding member of Hot Boys, whose real name is Christopher Dorsey, is to provide the U.S. Probation Office with a copy of the lyrics to his upcoming songs before producing and promoting them. The decision requires B.G. to submit the lyrics for review but does not bar him from releasing new music.

The judge overseeing the racketeering and gang prosecution against Young Thug and others has put the long-running trial on hold until another judge rules on requests from several defendants for his removal from the case.
Lawyers for Thug and several other defendants had filed motions seeking the recusal of Fulton County Superior Court Chief Judge Ural Glanville after he held a meeting with prosecutors and a prosecution witness at which defendants and defense attorneys were not present. They said the meeting was “improper” and said the judge and prosecutors tried to pressure the witness, who had been granted immunity, into giving testimony.

Though the BET Awards largely went off without a hitch, there was one blip in the broadcast. As Usher accepted the network’s lifetime achievement award, parts of his passionate, 12-minute speech were inaudible to viewers at home.
BET issued an apology to the eight-time Grammy winner, explaining that technical difficulties caused the breaches. “Due to an audio malfunction during the LIVE telecast, portions of his speech were inadvertently muted,” a spokesperson for the company told Billboard via statement.
