CARRY ON ONLY…always!! ✈️ Yes, even for 10 days in Italy in 5 (very different) cities. 🇮🇹Everyone asks me how - and why! - I do it so after returning from another successful trip using only a carry-on wheely and my trusty boat and toat, I’ve summed up my top packing tips below!
1. I’m super impatient and truly cannot bear waiting for luggage…nor do I want to run the risk of having it be lost or not arrive on time.
2. I’m not overly precious with outfits and am perfectly happy to rewear/re-purpose pieces of clothing on a trip, switching up the accessories to keep things feeling fresh and new.
3. Jewelry is my favorite part of getting dressed and always “makes” the outfit.
4. Never overpack shoes when traveling…you’ll most likely just keep gravitating towards the same ones and won’t end up wearing those you dithered about packing. (A great metallic strappy flat or wedge is the perfect summer multi-tasking footwear!)
5. I use my carryon tote as my catch all for beach/kids’ stuff/all the random things that are accumulated throughout each day.
6. I pack 1-2 clutches that work for all outfits, which also and doubles as my wallet.
7. I lay everything flat when packing and fold things as few times as possible, smoothing everything down layer by layer as I go.
8. Use travel size containers of products and remember that running out of something while you’re away is a fab excuse to try a new serum or cream that may just end up being your new favorite!
9. Pick neutral colors for evening coverups so they work with anything you bring (I have a favorite super thin white silk sweater I wear constantly both to drape around my shoulders on a sunny day and to keep me warm on a chilly evening).
10. Silk scarves take up little to no space and are the easiest, chicest way to transform any ensemble!! I take 4-5 classic square colorful versions, 1-2 oversized chiffon styles and a cozy cashmere one for the plane (and for draping over sleepy children on long car rides!).
