Last week was a thrill! Overton Park Conservancy, the Memphis Zoo, Brooks Museum of Art, and Overton Park Shell welcomed an enthusiastic group from Carpenter Art Garden for a summer camp in the park. Students explored the Old Forest with the Conservancy, engaged with keepers at the Zoo, wrote and recorded music at the Shell, and designed clothing and self-portraits at Brooks Museum. We all had a wonderful time exploring everything the park has to offer, and seeing what the students observed given the rich artistic background Carpenter Art Garden has given them. 🎨
🎬🍿Join us for a screening of 'The Lady Eve' (1941) at your art museum on July 21 from 2p-4p! Refreshments will be available for purchase in the Cafe.
Costume designer Edith Head's ingenious wardrobe choices, including 25 outfits for the domineering Harrington, became iconic, sparking several fashion trends during WWII. Stanwyck appreciated Head's deft designs that flattered her so-called “problem” figure, and insisted on the costumer for all her subsequent roles. Just as the exhibition Christian Siriano: People Are People celebrates self-expression, The Lady Eve champions individuality and style for every body and age.

Victory!
"For years, our goal has been to establish for the people of Memphis one of the greatest cultural institutions in the country. Today, thanks to the unwavering dedication of many, many supporters, we are closer than ever to making that dream a reality. " says Carl Person, Chair of the Board of Directors at Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, "This portion of our riverfront will soon be home not only to a world-class art museum, but acres of new, open, art-filled, and accessible public space for everyone to enjoy.
We are grateful for the enduring support of everyone who has shared our vision so far and we are thrilled to keep making progress toward our 2026 opening day."
