Posted @withregram@braillesounds Talked life, creativity and Triple Transit in conversation with @brucetantum for @djmagofficial . Probably the most vulnerable I’ve let myself be in an interview situation. 😅 You can still order the May issue on their site if you’re interested in the full interview! 🙌🏽 Triple Transit is out August 8th on @hotflushuk . 💿 (Hot tip - preorder the vinyl to get it early) Thanks to 📸 @philistinedsgn 📸 for making me look good. See you in the next 📺 Braille Sounds 📺 - out Friday. 🫡🫶🏽

New @djmagofficial cover story, penned by yours truly - thanks to @josephcapriati and his team for all the help on this Do it for love 🖤 @josephcapriati is DJ Mag North America’s June 2024 cover star 💫 Joseph Capriati is considered one of the world’s foremost techno technicians — but the veteran artist is much more than that, with the sounds of deep house, tech-house and more running through his sets and productions. Emboldened a newfound creative energy and sense of musical freedom, he’s as happy as he’s ever been — but if it wasn’t for a twist of fate, he wouldn’t have a career at all, as he explains to DJ Mag’s Bruce Tantum. The latest! Posted @withregram@djmagofficial Sweet sensation 🍯 Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield, together known as @musclecars.nyc , are core members of a group of Brooklyn DJs and producers who have been keeping things soulful in New York’s clubbing universe. But with the release of their debut album, ‘Sugar Honey Iced Tea!’, the duo goes further, placing their work as part of the full lineage of Black music and experience. DJ Mag’s Bruce Tantum speaks with the artists to find out more. Dive in under the features tab via djmag.com 🖊️ @brucetantum 📷 @guarionex_jr

Posted @withregram@faithfanzine “You just wish you could have bottled him up, he was so special. We had a wonderful relationship. He was one of my best friends. I mean, we had our moments — but the way he seemed to the world, that was real. Everybody loved Frankie. Which made my job much easier!” Judy Weinstein. It was far from inevitable that Frankie and Judy would ever meet. Knuckles was a black kid growing up in the Bronx, while Weinstein was a Jewish girl who called Brooklyn home. Even as the 60s slid into the 70s, when they both found themselves immersed in New York City’s nascent clubbing scene, the odds of their lives becoming intertwined in a way that would change the face of dance music forever were slim. Yet, thanks to a long friendship and the 1987 formation of Def Mix — the DJ agency and management company that also counted David Morales, Satoshi Tomiie and Hector Romero as its core members — that’s exactly what happened. Bruce Tantum spoke to Judy, David, Hector and Maria Rotella for the inside story of Def Mix and Frankie Knuckles in our Spring / Frankie issue. Huge thank you to Bruce for the feature, David, Hector and Maria for their contributions. Eternal respect to Judy Weinstein from all at Faith. @brucetantum @hectorromero @djdavidmorales @satoshi_tomiie @def_mix_nyc @frankieknucklesfoundation

Via @pittsburgh_rob : an unused guest pass from MOOT’S video release party in 1984 (I think) at the final iteration of Peppermint Lounge, at 15th St and 5th Ave. Jim Fouratt booked us, if memory served correctly - he had also booked us at Danceteria a little before this as well. Hugo Largo played too! #peppermintlounge

Proud to present a newly discovered extended mix of the 2001 classic “Edge of The Night” to both new and old ears. Hope you enjoy!! And thanks to the “legendary” @brucetantum and Adam’s family!

My interview with the great @louievega is now up at djmag.com 💥💥💥 Posted @withregram@djmagofficial After four-plus decades of DJing and with a incredible list of releases — much of it produced with longtime partner Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez as Masters At Work — the pioneering Louie Vega would seem to have little to prove. Yet he’s working harder than ever, with the same energy he had as a young kid coming up in the Bronx 🏙 In the run-up to his date at DJ Mag’s Miami Pool Party 2024 at the Sagamore Hotel on March 20th, Vega took some time out of his hectic schedule to talk about how he got to where he is today. Read the full DJ Mag North America cover feature with Louie Vega under the features tab via the link in our bio 🔗 Words: @brucetantum Pics: @christelle_studio Styling: @ananesworld Jewelry: @kenny_hwang_nyc MUS: @yuuivision w/ @chanelofficial cosmetics Photo assistant: @duckfeeney
