Congratulations to Sarah Amos, winner of the 2024 Vermont Prize! 🎉 Presented in partnership with our friends at the @brattmuseum , @thecurrentexhibitions , and @hall_art_foundation , the @vermontprize celebrates and supports the best visual art being made in our state today. The jurors from each of our organizations, together with this year’s Special Guest Juror, Phong H. Bui, artist, curator, and co-founder and publisher of The Brooklyn Rail, selected Amos out of hundreds of applicants from all corners of Vermont. Describing Amos’s work, Bui said, “I find that her pictorial strength, infused with the inventive application of material, evokes a wonderful synthesis of form and matter. Her abstractions deploy post-Cubist collage with originality of thought and materiality. Each work asserts its monumentality while maintaining a sense of intimacy, and calls forth particular places or experiences, while suggesting deep symbolic significance of sensation and memory.” Explore more of Amos’s work at vermontprize.org (link in bio) and relive her astounding 2019 BCA Center exhibition, "Unique Multiples" at burlingtoncityarts.org. Sarah Amos, "Hip-Hip," collograph on felt with yarn, 66 x 78 x 3 inches Sarah Amos, "Snow Bones," collograph on felt with yarn, 80 x 56 x 3 inches Sarah Amos (@artistsarahamos ), "1000 Wings," collograph on felt with yarn, 66 x 78 x 3 inches

Give a warm welcome to “Embrace and Belonging,” Burlington’s newest public art installation! Thanks to everyone who came out to Dewey Park today to help us celebrate artist Ai Qiu Hopen’s beautiful sculpture. After so much hard work bringing this project to life, @btvreib , @btvparks , and @btvcityarts were thrilled to bring our community together for the unveiling of this monumental public art installation dedicated to Burlington’s commitment to racial equity. The monument, which uses the imagery of two entwined symbols inspired by Sankofa birds, their heads turning past one another and embracing, is intended to evoke a societal impetus to reflect on our shared history. Learn more about “Embrace and Belonging” at the link in bio and stop by Dewey Park to experince it for yourself! 1, 4 📸 Juliet Shen, BPRW

Help us celebrate 30 years of Art from the Heart! Since 1994, Art from the Heart has connected thousands of patients and caregivers at the UVM Medical Center and Children's Hospital with free art supplies and activities, transforming the medical environment into a more comfortable and creative place through the arts. We hear stories again and again that describe Art from the Heart's impact – how an art activity reduced stress for a sibling in the waiting room, or how a patient forgot about pain for a few minutes by talking to a volunteer about making art at another time in her life. Ensure this amazing program and its impact on our community continues for years to come and make a gift today at the link in our bio!
