Waking up the morning after Miss America District of Columbia 2024, I feel incredibly proud. In 2019, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder following the loss of my brother and aunt, who raised me. Yesterday, I proudly became the 2nd runner-up to the crown, firm in my belief that God has greater plans for me. A crown doesn’t define the work I will do; instead, I stand as proof of what’s achievable through hope and determination.
I’m committed to making a difference, especially for the 2 million youth and young adults who attempt suicide each year. To those who feel unworthy, I see you, I hear you, and I value you. You are worthy. Remember, even flowers bloom again after the harshest winters.
Thank you all for your kind messages (I’m trying to respond to everyone) and hello to my new followers! I love you all! The work continues, simply as Alaysia. 🤍
Congratulations to our Miss America District of Columbia 2024
