For this creature I was inspired by several things. The Scream painting by Edvard Munch, collapsing bodybuilder veins (look it up they’re hideous) the open mouths of snakes, and of course the practical effects makeup of late nineties horror movies. And thank you to @pablander for your Extra Mile class. I used the lessons in that class to put more polish on this piece. The idea behind this character was to create something that would resemble everything that scares us about poisonous snakes. Humongous glands that produce poison and the fangs to inject them, as well as the feral and unpredictable nature of reptiles. Did a short demo on this creature during a livestream event with @wacom and then finished it up while following along with @pablander class the Extra Mile. Dope class. The Double Heart Phalanx Ring. I wanted to make something that was long enough to really show off what you can do with a couple of square inches of a ring face. Using raised and recessed areas I was able to create some interesting paths for oxidation that guide the eye in cursive rhythms up and down the piece. To get this one right took quite a bit of time, but I’m happy with how it came out. It’s so satisfying to be able to move through life with your own symbols of power, that you created for a specific purpose. Practical objects have become an obsession of mine lately and I don’t think it’s gonna stop anytime soon. This is the Love You To Death Cocktail Necklace. Inspired by the architecture of necklaces from the Tudor dynasty where the links lay flat upon the chest to display the design. I always loved the show and I knew one day I would do a piece inspired by the amazing jewelry that they wore in each and every episode. But obviously a bit darker. This is the Chrysalis Open Cuff Ring. I made this ring specifically for the ring and pinky fingers as those fingers are more difficult to get correct sizing on due to how slender they are. The open design allows the ring to expand about 1.5 sizes and can be pinched to ensure a good fit. Designed in ZBrush using my @wacom Cintiq and printed on @formlabs printers using the CW40 wax.
