The City's approach to calculating rent-gap payments needs updating to ensure tenants impacted by demovictions are getting a fair deal. We also need to have supports in place for tenants whose agreements have already been finalized and who may be at risk of losing safe, similar, appropriate housing due to insufficient rent-gap payments. You can support these updates by contacting your local councillor to ensure they'll be voting in favour of the motion at City Council ☎️ Thank you to @joshmatlow for working together to bring this motion forward at Planning and Housing Committee today!

STARRY NIGHT 🤩 What a way to kick off this year's Green Space Festival! Thank you to @the519 for all that you do for our community - during Pride and all year long. For decades you have advocated for the most marginalized members of our 2SLBGTQ+ family and have worked tirelessly to push us forward into a future where we can all not only live, but also thrive as our most authentic selves. If you are able, please consider donating to The 519 using the link in my bio ⭐️

Yesterday marked 40 years of the annual vigil for those we have lost to AIDS and everyone who lives with the disease today. It is imperative that we continue to honour their memories and tell their stories to ensure that we do not experience an injustice like the HIV/AIDS epidemic in our community again.

This morning we honoured the courageous and dedicated fallen firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice to save countless lives. Among the 338 firefighters recognized on the memorial are 11 who we have lost in the last year. I extend my sincere condolences to their loved ones.

This morning we marked National Indigenous Peoples Day with a sunrise ceremony at Nathan Phillips Square. It was a beautiful way to start this day on which we celebrate the rich and diverse cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. As we take time to reflect, let us also reaffirm our commitment to meaningful reconciliation, acknowledging the truths of our shared history and honouring the original caretakers of this land.
