Ok, “let’s reset the room” (shamelessly stealing this from Clubhouse, IYKYK), thought I’d reintroduce myself, not that I ever really introduced myself here, officially that is. My name is Clarice, and I’m a Fashion Stylist (and got into product styling and instagram years later), an ex-Medical Researcher, and before that, ex-lawyer. I am also a skincare/beauty/device junkie. My background in science /research means I research each and every thing, especially if it is skincare, and technology related to beauty devices, so I love to share my findings with you all. I absolutely love love love @biologique_recherche and trying out other effective and affordable skincare. I also love makeup that is effortless to use and does the work for me, because, to be honest, I’m not the best at it (the harder I try the worse I look imho). I’m also a mom of 3, can speak (now rusty) Portuguese (I grew up in Brazil), but as you can probably tell, am of Chinese heritage (have sadly never been to China though and cannot speak the language). Previously known as @brigadeirochoc (sorry to those in the know, seems I’m still causing some confusion, so will ease into the transition). Back to the image on hand: Lip enhancer. Dredges up thoughts of lip tingling plumping glosses or collagen injections. Clearly this is neither. It is not a balm, it is not a gloss, I’m not sure I’d even class this as a tint, as its effect is even more subtle than that. I heavily applied this on my lips yesterday hoping to “swatch” a lip/kiss imprint, but I could barely see any colour, and resorted to photo editing to bring out some shape and colour from my lip print on yesterday’s post. It really does have a candle wax effect, in that it very softly blurs lip lines and texture, but in a way only you could tell, I would think. On my lips, this shade (Rose d’Été) barely imparts a hint of colour (evident by the unedited last image on this slide of the photo I took yesterday -scroll left), but just enough, for my taste, and that suits me perfectly. It really is a lip enhancer, but in an incredibly subtle (my lips but better) kind of way. So the effect is a softly blurred matte slightly enhanced lip. That is why I find myself reaching for it so often. Even though I like the idea of lipstick (so glam! Which I’m not), 99.9% of the time I usually opt for lip balms/oils or tints. As someone who’s first slick of lipstick was applied in the 90’s (albeit swiftly wiped off by my catholic school teacher 🙈), nude lipstick shades are my jam, and @jonesroadbeauty ‘s newest additions to their lip tint range are just my cuppa tea. In fact, Mocha Rose Shimmer is so similar to the aforementioned first ever lipstick I snuck to school, it spurred my flashback.
