Worn Rey Mysterio Mask - WWE Smackdown August 7th 2009 🙌
So this is something I have had in my collection for a long time however havn't shared it on my profile. Having recently found out new information I felt it would be a good time to change that.
Firstly I owe a big thanks to @doshermanoslucha for this information. If you don't follow them already you need to. I have known them for a few years now and they're some of the most knowledgeable and genuine people in the community. Always happy to help with what they know and often sell some fantastic items. I've bought a couple of masks from them previously and they're tremendous to do business with.
Being a wrestling fan, I don't think there is anything that tops having an item worn by your favourite wrestler, especially an item as iconic as Rey Mysterio's mask. It's the equivalent of getting a worn Jersey of your favourite sports player. As far as collectibles it doesn't get any better than that.
You can imagine my joy when I was presented with footage of Rey wearing this mask from a 2009 episode of Smackdown. When it comes to ring gear it can be a challenge to screen match but thanks to some great close up shots this was done pretty easilly here. You can tell from the stitching on the mask this one matches up to the one he wore on the show exactly.
Rey would wear open backed masks at this stage of his career when wrestling so to have one with the Aztec design on the back and for it to be worn is pretty special. Having always preferred his closed back masks this really is a one of a kind item for me to own.
This is the crown jewel of my collection. I really don't think as a fan it gets any better than this. Although the Mattel shown is wearing an open backed mask it's still pretty cool to have them side by side. One day il get around to painting up one that matches the mask I own but for now I still think this looks pretty awesome 🤘

OSFTM Tribute - Sting! - Available for purchase (1 of 5)
So here it is, this project has been on the go for around six months but over the last week or so I took it off the back burner and got it complete. I couldn't be happier with how this looks. My tribute to the Original San Fransico Toy Makers WCW figures.
Being a fan of art toys and with boxed customs getting more popular, I wanted to make something special. I didn't want to just take a picture off Google or copy the ultimate edition packaging. I wanted to do my own take on one of the lines which came before, a line I had growing up, and this is the result.
This card has been completely built from the ground up. Logos designed, picture illustrated, put together with blood, sweat and tears! Each element thought out, even the back on the box!
This project took me so long that I sold the original custom, built it again, sold that and rebuilt it once more! Good thing I love making Sting figures.
Having had interest from people throughout this project I have decided to take on a small run of 5 of these to sell. Each card will be individually numbered and accompanied by a glossy limited edition copy of the corner illustration in A4. This wasn't a picture with a filter, this was hand drawn. (See picture 3)
This set won't be redone. Once the 5 are sold that is it. With one already having been claimed get in touch now to secure your copy. With so many fans of Sting out there I can't see these sticking around. 🦂

How I fixed my MNW 3 RVD - details in caption for an easy leg fix! 🙌
So in my review yesterday I mentioned how disappointed I am with the RVD figure from the series. A figure which had so much potential but was let down in execution. Loving this attire I just had to find a way to fix it where I could.
So firstly, that head had to go. This is one I sell on and was my favourite option I had so far. I'm toying with one other potential so will see how that looks when complete. RVD was obviously younger in this era so I wanted the head to look as close to that time as possible.
Next, I went about it the long way and sliced down the calves to remove the pinless legs and I decided to go with some Jazwares Rey Fenix lowers. RVD's boots at this time were different from the ones we all know him for. The kickpads had a different shape to them and had straps coming off. There really isn't anything "stock" which had that look however I feel the ones I chose give a good representation of that. I added a gloss to the pad to make them shine like there were with this attire.
I chose to remove the wrist tape to make it accurate to his match with Lance Storm at Barely Legal. That was a personal choice. I then removed the paint on the upper thigh to give the shorts area a shorter look similar to the event.
Now, I went about it the long way to fix it however there is a simple route for those of you who may struggle with part swaps.
The legs on this figure are the same as Stunning Steve. You can swap the legs out at the upper thigh for those meaning if you're wanting to replace the boots it would be easier for you by switching out the lower legs of the stunning Steve with whatever you're choosing. Those legs are not pinless meaning you won't have to use the slice method.
I would have rather used open back kneepads on my fix up however Mattel gave the figure black knee joints meaning it would have looked terrible.
My fix isn't perfect, but I'm alot happier with the figure than I was. Hopefully this will also make some of you happier with yours. This and other RVD heads available painted and unpainted on 🤙
Monday Night Wars Series 3 - My thoughts...a great set with a big disappointment.
Firstly, I am all in on this line, it is possibly my favourite line Mattel has ever done. It has given us some great figures but I can't help but feel disappointed with a figure I was massively excited for in this series, first we lose the unmasked Rey, then we get this massively disappointing RVD...
Let me talk about the great first, this Disciple is not only possibly the best BAF we have ever had, it is also a STRONG contender for a figure of the year candidate. Top 5 for sure. It is exactly what a BAF should be, a deep enough cut you won't be sad if you don't want it, but also a massive incentive to buy the set if you do. It made me buy a Rock figure I didnt need so it did it's job!
The Harlem Heat are fantastic upgrades. Would I have preferred and NWO Stevie and singles run Booker? Yes, but these black attires are fantastic and the updated heads and arms are much needed.
The Rock, it is a standard Rock, I have no need for it, the added head is a fun moment from the GIF, but I bought it solely for the BAF part.
RVD... what a disappointment, first, the attire is fantastic which is what makes it harder. I was waiting to see the head in person before deciding and I am not a fan of it. I get they were looking for a younger look but this isn't it. It makes me sad this is being used on the upcoming Defining Moments figure. The thicker legs are a step forward, the wrong boots are a step back. I get that his boots were different in this attire but I think the standard kickpads would be closer to them than what we got.
I say again, I love this line, I love what it is and I cannot wait for the next series. It has given us some amazing upgrades and some fantastic figures. What are your thoughts on series 3? Is this the strongest set so far? Let me know!

Filthy Animals Rey Mysterio Jr - Variant 2 🙌
So this is the variant version of what I shared yesterday. Obviously the overalls are different but also this has red horns, nlond highlights and different gloves. Once again using the unreleased Mattel head.
This had 3 produced and all 3 are sold.
I have to say I think this is my favourite of the 2 I made. I've always been a sucker for white Rey attires, I think they look fantastic on display.
I wanted to do a variant on this boxed figure. The carding will be the same but I may add a "Variant" logo to it, il see how it looks when it comes to printing the cards.
Again, shout out to @wwefigures_original_studio for the amazing soft goods. He is one of the best in the game for sure!
Custom Replica Unrelease MNW Series 2 Rey Mysterio Jr 🤙
So here is version one of the CMW "Custom Made Wrestlers" Rey Mysterio Jr project. This figure is a "plussed up" version of the unreleased figure using the unreleased Mattel head sculpt.
Complete with all accurate tattoos, gloves, attire and silver chain, the Filthy Animals Rey is a glimpse of what we could have had should the figure not have been cancelled, obviously without the Nike logos!
I really like how this one came out. This is 1 of 5 and all have been sold.

Jakks Deluxe Aggression - RVD and Rey Mysterio - Did you collect this line? 🤘
So people like to talk about how bad scaling can be with Mattel, clearly these people didn't live through the Jakks era!
Jakks did some great things but scale was never one of them. Growing up in this time you had to use some imagination, especially when it came to scale. Rey figures were often the same height as the likes of Undertaker and Kane, it was rough on that front!
They did however try new things, these Deluxe Aggression figures were the next stage after the ruthless aggression line. Most featured double jointed knees and also a mid torso hinge. As stand alone figures, I really like the Rey ones, they just scale terribly next to others.
The RVD figures from this line are also some of my favourites. The sculpt work on the singlet and boots is fantastic and they are still to this day some of my favourite RVD figures (once Jakks switched out that crazy shouting head they started using on him...)
Rey and RVD teaming were always a favourite of mine. I always wanted a set of their figures together wearing what they wore as a team and noticed that with these DA figures this is possible. The RVD came from the Impact line (this singlet is also an ECW one so perfect for fans of that era too!) and Rey from the WWE line.
So although we would all love the correct scale when it comes to figures, just remember how far we have come from the days of 6'3 Rey Mysterio...
So what were your thoughts on the DA line? I personally preferred the RA that came before them but still thought there were some awesome figures from the time!

It has been fun working on Rey Mysterio customs again for this CMW project, its made me want to work on a couple more, here are some previous Rey customs/fix ups I have made in my time making customs!
It has been a long time since I have worked on a Rey custom. Most of the time these days it has just been a head upgrade or light fix up. Doing the unmasked project has gotten the juices flowing again and it has made me want to make a couple of new Rey's for the collection.
Shown are most of the ones I have made since I started - alot of these are from my earlier days. Looking here I would love to remake the WCW Spiderman attire, I think I could improve on that alot with how I have improved since making that.
I would love to make a couple of his wrestlemania looks. The Joker and Captain America are on that list, hopefully towards the end of the year I can get some time to do one of those.
I am hoping to have all the Filthy Animals Reys completed for the project this week so I look forward to sharing more updates on those with you soon! Check back on my previous post to see the painted head.

💎 Just finished painting the DDP head I recently added to 💎
Finally got around to painting this head. Ignore the torso it was only used in place as I wanted to see how it would work with the new MNW 3 Elite we are getting.
In all the years of DDP figures I don't think we have ever had a straight faced scan and I think its been needed. I can't wait to add this to thr MNW figure I think its going to be the perfect DDP.

Unreleased Mattel Filthy Animals Rey head paint 🤘
So I've been working on the CMW Custom Made Wrestlers series Rey figures today and I thought I would share the painted head of the lower run white variant.
The standard which il show another day is a direct copy of the unreleased Mattel figure. Dark hair, black horns and yellow overalls. 5 are being made and are sold
This variant features the red horns and blonde highlights look. 3 of these have been made. 2 have sold and I am keeping one.
There are no more available at this time. It's the first time I've finished painting this head to get an idea of how this head could have looked when released. I think once painted it has a fantastic likeness and think it captures this era of Rey well.
I still have the tattoos to do on these but for now enjoy this head paint! I think these figures are going to look insane once complete and on cards.
