Day 74 - 7/3/23 - 16.7 miles in & out of
@shelter_cove . An early start with the promise of burgers
@shelter_cove Resort & Marina. Getting there was fun, lots of snow, lots of trail “finding”. I got to RV park at 10:34am, picked up my package from
@rei of my 3rd pair of
@brooksrunning Casadia 16 - WHITE (they were on discount). I was back on trail by 16:45, after six hours full of eating burgers, drinking
@cocacola , shower, laundry, more eating and taking photos of some HUGE RVs. I hiked out to North Rosary Lake, happy with my decision to stay on trail for the 4th of July enjoying the wilderness, although an invitation from Chill, Alabama and a few more to head into town had been tempting. Oh ya the life changing event that occurred
@shelter_cove , most people get their trail names within the first 2-4 weeks, I was 2.5 months on trail and hadn’t got a good suggestion, then this happened - while organizing my things at the PCT resting area kindly set up by the Resort, a young couple and their son came over to talk to us hikers. The son came over looking curiously at me, I ask him how old he was and when he said 6, I replied, wow you look at least 8, a reply any young boy wants to here - then I asked him how old he thought I was, he looked at the ground, started counting on his figures and then looked me straight in the eyes and said 90! His parents were mortified and I had just been christened with my trail name “90”. Note - photo is of me looking the oldest I think I looked on trail on the 8th of September on top of Mount Whitney.
