I have had quite a few requests to build lamps, but currently the shop is closed to allow some much needed down time, and also to prepare for Tiki Oasis. This year I will continue my role at curating the Tiki Lamp art show, but also will be teaching a basic lamp building class! I often get asked about what lamps I have built for myself. In this case, its A LAMP. Yep just one. Now thats not to say I don’t have some of my “problem children” hanging up either! I made this lamp for my birthday a few years back. I wanted it to speak not about my talents, but more about all the influential craftsmens/story tellers I have been lucky enough to know past and present. And I’m a sucker for story telling!!! I think thats why Tiki checks alot of boxes for me. I wanted this lamp to show age, and create conversation. By most “Tiki lamp” standards it’s pretty boring…. And perfect.
As I continue to try to organize all my photos, I found this cool style I haven’t built in some years. Definitely one of my all time favorites! I’m gonna have to build one of these again.
