A little history on our building that Coppertail now occupies.
1927: The building sitting on the corner of 26th and 2nd when it was Hellmann’s Blue Ribbon Mayonnasie. That corner is now brewery operation offices and home to our canning line. Much of the original building needed to be rebuilt, but some of the original structure still exists.
1926: The Hellmann’s workers celebrating their first shipment of mayonnaise headed to Daytona from the Tampa plant. The rail line ran down what is now Adamo and would be where our current parking lot is today. The foot rails at our bar are made from that very same rail that we dug up during construction of the brewery and tap room.
1946 (ish): Sevilla Olive Packing Company moved into the building from their original Ybor City location. Sevilla shipped olives packed in bring inside wooden casks (4th pic). The olives were then packaged into glass jars and shipped out. This picture depicts a truck picking up a shipment at what is now our loading dock to this very day. If you have ever been to one of our concerts, this is where the bands play from. The casks were stored in what was our original warehouse and the home to where the first pilot batches were brewed. That space is ow our packaging hall.
