Vancouver police looking for witnesses to a bizarre assault in Pacific Centre mall where a man approached a teen from behind and used a leg sweep to knock him to the ground. Captured on mall security cameras, the suspect can be seen walking toward the 15-year-old boy, before quickly using his foot to knock the boy’s legs out from under him. It happened around 11:45 am on May 8 and although the suspect initially fled he was followed by mall security. Police officers found the suspect shortly after and arrested him. “Although we have arrested a suspect in this case, we are still gathering evidence,” Const. Tania Visintin said in a news release. “We are particularly interested in speaking to people who saw the suspect immediately before or after the alleged assault, or overheard any interaction the suspect had with the victim or other people.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 604-717-2541. #dailyhivevan

Vancouver Police have released a video of a terrifying stranger attack on a 22-year-old woman that took place in downtown Vancouver. The victim was walking along West Georgia Street in front of the Hotel Georgia at around 3:30 pm on December 31 when she was suddenly grabbed by a man walking in the opposite direction. The suspect is described as a white, middle-aged man wearing grey pants, a black jacket with a black shirt underneath that had a logo in the middle, a black toque, headphones, and a blue bag. The Vancouver police are sharing video of a robbery suspect who used bear spray to steal a purse at Holt Renfew, in hopes the public can help identify them 👀 The incident happened near 6 pm on December 3 at Pacific Centre on Dunsmuir Street. “This was a violent crime that occurred on one of the busiest shopping nights of the year and affected many people,” said Sergeant Steve Addison. “We’re asking everyone to look hard at this video and call us if you know the person responsible.” Police say they’re looking for a man or woman in their 20s, who was wearing a yellow face mask, a green hoodie, and a black cap with a white logo on the front.
