Happy Birthday to you! I want to thank you for being part of Joker Out and being one of the only constant things in my life.
You are such a kind soul. I had the pleasure to meet you once in Hamburg. You announced that you need to head back to the bus now because it was getting late and you guys needed to drive to the Netherlands. I was standing there the whole time but people kept pushing in front me. I thought that would be it but while you were going back you stopped at the girl with the white cane. Even though you needed to go you spend time to talk to me and take my drawings.
I felt so seen that day because normally people just seem to ignore me because of my disability. Thank you for not ignoring me. It should be normal to include disabled people but sadly it isnt. Thank you for not being like the rest and including me. I wish you the best birthday someone could have 🫶🏻

I’ve felt very happy and at peace while painting this, which is kinda ironic because the painting displays a very different emotion.
I wonder why that is, that when I felt happy I chose to paint a certain sadness and hopelessness. Maybe it was to process the emotions I’ve felt the days before. Maybe I just wanted to paint this picture, because it’s so incredibly beautiful.
Or perhaps the reason isn’t all that important and just fulfilling the need to put it on a canvas is enough.
Maybe I’ll understand one day.
