A bit late on this but awhile ago my good friend @ohjonnywest put out a lovely record, and some of those songs I got to work on. Jonny, Tejas and I recorded Reaching, Ride and Back & Forth together which were all another sonic step forward in the ever growing evolution of Jonny’s music. Mixed by the inimitable @jameskrausse who gave them life and power. @tejaslh@ohjonnywest thanks for trusting and supporting me - it’s always a wild time recording with those two !

Get Free is out today ! I’m so thrilled for and proud of Sam and Mal for what they’ve done with this record. All the other musicians sound lovely as well. Some of Sam’s most dynamic, touching songs yet - it’s a gorgeous collection that I was honored to play drums on.
The band tracking sessions were done during early pandemic days, and it was such a delight being able to drive to their home studio and record during that time.
The performances were filled with such energy, frantic at times, driven by the excitement that we got to do it in the first place. We listened deeply and responded to eachother as we went. We laughed a ton, the days were fruitful and those sessions really helped me push through the utter weirdness that was going on. Every night, Sam and Mal would dazzle and cook the most extravagant, delicious meal, during which I maybe chopped some carrots or massaged kale(never get in the way of greatness !) The way the songs evolved over time, watching them toil over each detail, and hearing them after Robbie was done mixing, was all mindblowing.
This record is so special and reminds me of two dear friends that are very important to me, go give it a listen and see Sam live when you get the chance !

The album artwork is a photo so graciously taken by @mallory_h and it’s a picture I love. Her, @samwebermusic and I were driving near Lake Powell and saw this group of cows by the side of the road and I thought there was something about them that should be captured so Mallory took the photo on the way back and I knew that would be the cover for these songs. 6 songs, 6 cows, just looking for a little comfort like us all.
To me these songs are about trying to set new limits for yourself and accepting wether you reach them or not.
