Monday night-Ish.

This is a photo of
a woman sitting outside of my building
w her 5 children. It was after 1am

They lost their housing -
AND according to the buildings security guard,
they were walking around the area earlier that day.

After 3 attempts to get her help, I
went back to check on them and they were gone,
security said she split 10 minutes after I left.
She told me she was afraid of having her kids taken away from her.

I want to believe a friend found them a place to sleep.

I just can’t get the image of all of them sitting on the bench - and seeing one of the kids struggling to keep her eyes open. Her little boy (12) was trying to assure me that they would be okay.

I struggle to stay optimistic these days but it’s hard.
