Join us on Sunday April 7th at The Chambers Project for a very special concert to support our friend and fellow Nevada County resident, Uncle Jay Ceballos.
Unfortunately, Uncle Jay has a battle with cancer ahead of him, and to spread awareness and raise some funds for his medical expenses we’ll be having a day of music and art in his honor. Sam Grisman Project (featuring Chris English, Dominick Leslie, and Roy Williams) will be performing with special guests, Hattie and Joe Craven, Matt Eakle and Lowell Levinger (“Banana” from The Youngbloods).
Get to know Uncle Jay through a personal message from Sam Grisman himself in the last two photos of this carousel. Then you’ll see why we love Uncle Jay and why he’s so deserving of our support!
We’ll have ticket packages available which include exclusive merch, and will also be raffling off some incredible items!
La Guaira Venezuelan Bistro will be selling their delicious food and we’ll have local libations on tap.
Come spend your Sunday with us while supporting a great cause! 💫

It’s with a heavy heart that my family is remembering our dear friend, human being extraordinaire, Artie Rose, who passed away yesterday. Artie was my oldest friend and my first “dawg” guitarist, who helped me record my first tunes with Bill Keith in my living room in Greenwhich Village nearly 60 years ago. He was a fantastic musician who played dobro, mandolin and guitar, and made some historically important recordings with Harry & Jeannie West, the Old Reliable String Band and Dave Van Ronk’s Jug Stompers.
Rest in Peace dear Artie.
Today I’m celebrating the birth of my beautiful partner in life, Tracy Bigelow Grisman! Tracy’s a great wife, artist, musician, mom, grandma and boy can she cook! She also helps me keep Acoustic Disc going every day. Happy Birthday Cutie Pie!
This past weekend we lost one of the greatest mandolin players of all time, Frank Wakefield. Frank was my teacher. He took me under his wing when I was a teenager and became my mandolin role model. It is with profound sadness that I’m expressing my great appreciation for his artistry and unique humanity.
Here’s one of the most fantastic bluegrass mandolin solos in existence, recorded in 1965 and issued on Silverbelle Records (my short lived record label with co-producer Peter K. Siegel) as a 45 single. The band included the great Chubby Wise on fiddle, Winnie Winston on banjo, Fred Weisz on guitar and me on guitar. Frank was at the top of his game that day. RIP Frank Wakefeld.
Today I’m sending a BIG Birthday shoutout to my dear friend of nearly six decades, Sam Bush, one of the all-time great mandolin players (and an awesome fiddler too)! Hope you’re having a great day Sammy and pickin’ the fire out of that mandolin!
The love we felt from Dawgnation yesterday for @daviddawggrisman ‘s 79th trip around the sun was absolutely humbling. Thank you all for keeping Dawg music and the Dawg in your hearts!
We are pleased to announce that we have re-stocked the classic Dawg Shirt design (this time on beautiful comfort colors blanks) and they are once again available. The last batch went around the world and wound up making appearances with friends far and wide. Thanks for the love and support y’all!

Hey friends - in the spirit of throwback Thursday, my friend @definitelynotlosangeles and I are pleased to offer this special shirt celebrating “Not For Kids Only”.
“Not For Kids Only” is a record that turned 30 this past summer that is incredibly special to me and many of my closest friends because it essentially provided the soundtrack to our childhoods. My mom felt like Jerry had so many “kids” out there in the world who looked up to him and looked to him for wisdom, that he and my dad ought to make a kids record - and the rest is history! At first Jerry was a little reluctant, but he came around to the idea, and the record that they made is truly a masterpiece that really IS not for kids only.
I couldn’t be luckier to have grown up in my particular reality. It was a special time in a special place and that is not lost on me. My Dad and Jer actually played at my first birthday party, and also played some of these NFKO songs for some friends and I in our backyard for a photo shoot that Jerry ended up basing the cover of the record off of! The songs on this record and the memories they conjure are extremely special to me and I’m grateful to get to share this wearable tribute with y’all.
My partner @rambleonrach stumbled upon this old article featuring a classic shot of my pop and I chilling in my childhood bedroom and immediately thought it would make a great shirt! The article has some incredible quotes from Dawg and Jerry in it, and we’ve decided to add a few Easter eggs of our own. The shirts will be printed on comfort colors blanks and we’ll be taking pre-orders through the weekend. Thank you guys for the support, it means the world and puts gas in the tank so we can keep on hittin the road and playing these tunes!
