We have you to thank for all the wins we had this season 🥹💌 “As we wrap up another incredible year of building community through music, it's time to look back on the fun we had, and look forward to even more in 2024! As always, our Orion Free Concert Series was a favorite of mine—and many others—with so many highlights that it would be impossible to name them all. A few standout shows I loved in particular were The Heavy Heavy (@theheavyheavy ), Thee Sinseers (@theesinseers ), and Preauxx with Unapologetic (@preauxx w/ @weareunapologetic )! The launch of our Mobile Shell—a 30-foot, fully functional mobile stage that rolled through local neighborhoods and into community events, was a huge accomplishment this year. It was a bold move to take our mission directly to the people; one that has been in the works for so many years, but even after just a few months, the impact is unmistakable. I can't wait to see where we go from here! Another highlight was the seamless integration of ASL interpreters from DeafConnect (@deafconnectmidsouth ) at every single show in the Orion Free Concert Series. This wasn't just a nod to inclusivity; it was a step towards making our events accessible to everyone, amplifying the universal language of music. I loved seeing our interpreters enjoying the show from stage, using their own flair during each performance. After such an incredible year, I want to express my gratitude to every member of our Overton Park Shell family, whether you attended just one of our shows or attended as many as you possibly could. I am now based in Washington, DC., pursuing public health education at Gallaudet University. Mentorship is important to me because it will help me to gain more confidence and willingness to help everyone academically, psychologically, and socially.
