A Great Horned Owl and Baby in a eucalyptus tree nest in Saguaro National Park. Great horned owls are the largest owls in the Sonoran Desert, reaching up to 2 feet in height. They are gray or brown with a white throat, prominent ear tufts, and barred feathers on their underside. These owls are known for being aggressive and powerful hunters, sometimes called "tiger owl."
