So you've decided to book your @porterairlines flight to @destinationstjohns and now you need to decide where to stay while you explore one of the friendliest Canadian cities I've ever been to. Look no further than @althotel St John's by @legermainhotels 🫶 Located so close to The Narrows in the heart of downtown #StJohns you can breathe in the salty air, this stunning hotel has everything you could want and need to make your visit the most magical it can be. The decor is modern with a nod to local culture and wildlife, the lobby and patio gather guests of the hotel and locals alike every day, and the coffee and baked goods at Terre Café are spectacular and start each day in the best way possible. Not to mention it is also the home of one of the best restaurants in Canada. @terre_restaurant offers an elevated dining experience crafted by the incredible Chef Matthew Swift using locally sourced ingredients, which means it is updated regularly and supports local farms, fishing, and food producers. The staff are knowledgeable, funny and friendly - like every Newfoundlander I met to be honest. Head to /en/alt-hotel/st-johns to book your stay today and make sure to ask for a Harbour facing room if you can for one of the most majestic and calming views I've ever been lucky enough to experience from a hotel. #AltHotel #StJohnsNL #ExploreCanada #DoTheDaniel #Hosted experience

“But NO ONE breaks up with Apple...” Well. I just did. 🤷 I hit send on the official breakup email to the @apple team today to let them know that I have appreciated working with them to test out the #AppleWatch and #iPhone15Pro , but that the grass isn’t always greener, and I’m much happier being #TeamGoogle with @madebygoogle 🤳 I know this is probably going to blow the minds of a LOT of people, but when it came down to it, I didn’t like iOS system, and I missed my #Pixel8Pro the whole time. Not to mention I’ve been wanting to try out the all new #PixelWatch2 since I heard about it. At the end of the day it came down to the camera, and that I am an @android gurl at heart. I had to try to say that I did, and I am so grateful to the amazing #Apple Canada team, but I’m back with my @google family and I truly know where my heart belongs once and for all. Stay tuned to dothedaniel.com for more details, as well as my honest experience (both good and bad) about both devices coming very soon ✌️ #AD #GiftFromGoogle #Google #GoogleCanada #DoTheDaniel

Serious question. What's the first thing you do when you get into your hotel room? For me, it's pants / shorts off IMMEDIATELY. I'll be sharing more about a recent stay at @thedrakehotel with you all soon, but thought this burning question NEEDED to be asked in the meantime. 🤭 #TheDrake #TheDrakeHotel #SeeTorontoNow #Toronto #DoTheDaniel

"You're doing that all at the same time. Have you told yourself you're proud of yourself today?" So deeply stuck in the thick of my emotions, I didn't have an answer when I was asked that this weekend. 💛 I think as we enter into the second half of 2024, it's time we all started to refocus and appreciate how much we have accomplished and achieved this year, instead of what we have yet to do or get stuck for too long in the harder emotions of life. With your help, I would like to spread a bit more inspiration and grateful energy into the universe. I'd LOVE to know what's one thing YOU are proud of in 2024? 🤔👇🏼 It could be as simple as starting a new habit, or as big as a new chapter of life entirely, but let's spread some magic and support one another as we start off the month of July together ✨ #Travel #TravelTuesday #DoTheDaniel

"A New Day Has Come" and with it, the highly anticipated release of #IAMCELINEDION on @primevideoca #ad I wouldn’t have missed last week’s screening for the world, and so when I landed in Ottawa from a flight, I got in my car and “I Drove All Night” (well, it was the day time, but you get what I'm saying) to make it on time. I had the pleasure of joining superfans, giveaway winners, fellow media and industry experts at TIFF Bell Lightbox for the Toronto screening of the beautiful look inside the life of the one and only @celinedion , and if I’m being honest with you all, it has definitely been a whirlwind of emotions since. Our screening took place simultaneously as the Montreal and New York screenings, and we were even blessed to have Celine Dion speak to us all live, which is still mind boggling to me! From her rise to stardom from a humble French Canadian family, to starting her family, losing her husband and most recently being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, this film pulled at my heartstrings. There is an extremely beautiful story which can at times be hard to watch, but it is absolutely a film we all should make time to enjoy starting today. I would love to know if you are excited to see the documentary and what Celine Dion means to you! Make sure to check out I AM CELINE DION which is now streaming on Prime Video Canada #CelineDion #PrimeVideo #PrimeVideoCanada #Documentary #DoTheDaniel

As a man of 40 years old (which sometimes shocks people, I know 😜) I may not look my age while I live my best life possible, but I have to be honest that my hair health has definitely deteriorated progressively over the years. I’ve got a pretty noticeable bald spot on the crown of my head and I finally decided to do something about it! 💁🏼 I had heard of @nioxin from so many of my friends in and around my age - of all gender expressions - I thought this was FINALLY the time to see what all the fuss was about. As someone that dyes and colours my hair regularly, I know a lot of other products on the market definitely were not right for me, so I was surprised to know that System Kit 4 is specifically formulated for people like me. Nioxin's specialty products are scientifically formulated for fine and thinning hair and to help create a healthy scalp. Enjoy thicker, fuller-looking hair with impressive results in as little as 30 days with consistent use of your 3-step professional system including a shampoo, conditioner, and leave-on treatment. I LOVED that they are made with powerful ingredients like niacinamide, wild mint oil, peppermint oil, and caffeine. It smells fantastic and the bottles look fabulous in my beautiful bathroom, which is always a bonus too! 😻🛁 I’ve been using the product for over a month and have definitely noticed substantial improvement in my area of concern, which only helps me to feel assured this is the right product for me to look and feel more fabulous even more so! I'd love to know if you've noticed a difference in your hair as you've gotten older 🤔 Let me know 👇🏼 and maybe this is the sign you're looking for to try out the Nioxin Canada line of products like I have been looking and feeling your best! You can get yours today on @amazonca at the link below: https://www.amazon.ca/stores/page/67EFB58F-F92E-46F2-9A29-5E39487F0577?maas=maas_adg_D7D464D03D91D1631499A4D34AC55038_afap_abs&ref_=aa_maas&tag=maas #AD #Wella #WellaCanada #Hair #Beauty #HairHealth #NioxinCanada #Nioxin #MensBeauty #DoTheDaniel

I often jot down ideas for blog posts in the notes app on my phone It's usually a sentence or two that comes to me at the most random of times, and more often than not, it stays there for years in the form of a private glimpse of inspiration that is just for me. The thing with blog posts that I've noticed is that there is a certain permanence to them once I hit publish. Yes of course they can be deleted, and I have in many cases taken down things I shouldn't have shared online. But putting them into the world does make it real. I think that is why at times throughout my career I have been stunted and unable to write at all. The fear of acknowledgement. The pain of speaking something into reality. The permanence that comes with it all. It's easy to ignore and distract and avoid. I am REALLY GOOD at those things in fact and, in my opinion, can keep up appearances when needed for a certain amount of time. Life lately has been a mixture of joy in new experiences and accomplishments I am very proud of, and a quiet and cutting sense of loss and powerlessness. I think there's beauty to be found in this all, and one day I will look back on the days and photos here and feel the joy I felt in those moments. I do think I will also remember the pain, but with time that will hopefully fade and heal. The blog post I am currently writing will be titled "how I'm looking for the sparkle in my eyes" or something therein. It's inspired by the first and last of these important photos and memories. No I'm not going to be messy Daniel who pours too much of life out into the world. I've made that mistake too many times and I want to try and navigate difficult moments with more grace, empathy, compassion and respect. I want to acknowledge that I feel I have lost the sparkle in my eyes and how I would love to find new ways to bring it back ✨

Let's talk about dating in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️✨ It's Pride month, and for a lot of people in the queer community it's a reminder to meet new people. If we are lucky, amid our Pride celebrations, we might even make a connection with someone romantically! From my experience when I have been single (as a gay man) the default app that comes to mind has a very recognized notification sound and is quite transactional for a sexual meet up. It often didn't lead in the direction I wanted when I was looking for a meaningful connection. I recently was invited to a @Tinder Panel Discussion all about Exploring Queer Dating in Canada moderated by @dr.jess.md featuring @og.robinson10 , @aniskaali and @minagerges 🫶 I loved learning that "#Tinder revolutionized how we make new connections, making it fun and easy for singles to meet with a simple Swipe gesture. The queer community, however, has often used the app in diverse ways. A recent in-app survey suggests that dating apps like Tinder may offer a unique, welcoming environment for self-discovery in Canada’s queer community. DYK that more than 60% of respondents agreed that online platforms like Tinder provide a space for them to express their authentic selves. - From their sexuality to their gender identity, to the type of partner they’re looking for. - 45% of those same Tinder users shared that dating apps have felt like a safer space for self-expression compared to real-life. - 2 in 3 survey respondents agreed that it’s important that dating apps allow them to express both their sexuality and gender identity. In an era of fluidity and self-discovery—one that’s not tied to past sexual or romantic preferences— freedom is more important than ever. Tinder's survey suggests that modern online dating is less about checking boxes on gender or sexual preference and more about exploration and social connection." I would LOVE to know if you've ever used Tinder and what your experiences have been like! Amid Pride month & celebrating, I think it's so important to share and celebrate real connections, fabulous experiences, and to celebrate love! 🤍🩷🩵❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤 Photos by Vanessa Cassar
