The time has come! Issue No. 11 is now available for pre-order! ✨📖 It is a challenging moment in human history. What does this have to do with psych-delics? Again and again, we find in research and anecdotal reports that the most profound psychedelic experiences often illuminate the connectivity of all things, from the plants and fungi to the global village of humans who we will never meet—and whose stories we may never hear. As we contend with what’s unfolding before us, inevitably, grief and overwhelm emerge. It’s easier to turn away. But widely-accepted wisdom in the psychedelic world—from curanderos serving plant medicines ceremonially to underground therapists—is that the only way out is through. 👉 In this issue, we center voices that are looking into the heart of the darkness, and offering tools—cultivated over generations—for finding that way through. As always, our 11th edition also seeks to embrace play, mysticism, and whimsy—we go into a vast underground network of caves in the Ecuadorian Amazon rumored to contain evidence of an advanced civilization lost to history and under the sea where there’s, allegedly, more than one type of fish that makes people trip. Like the human experience, the psychedelic experience often encompasses a spectrum of feeling—and we hope the magazine reflects that, as you embark on a journey throughout its pages. The FDA, CDC, and other local agencies launched an investigation into the “mu s h room” brand Diamond Shuumz when 23 people were hospitalized and 39 others fell severely ill after consuming its products. While the FDA and CDC’s most recent lab tests found research chems, DoubleBlind dug into the brand’s COAs a bit and discovered the COAs are… not quite as they seem. Link in bio for the full story.

Is your Zoom doctor (or practitioner) actually who they say they are? A recent investigation shows that a popular MDMA Zoom shrink isn’t who he says he is. Recent reporting by Jules Evans uncovered that Jonathan Robinson’s license as a marriage and family therapist lapsed in 2007. Yet, he still claims he's a licensed therapist in articles, podcast appearances, and on his website. 🤔 Link in bio for the full story.

The practice of Western astrology, traced back to ancient Mesopotamia, draws from centuries of planetary correlations to reflect personal aspects, seasons of ease or challenge, and even global ruptures. This tradition also understands the planets to have certain binary qualities: They may be either cold or hot, for example, or wet or dry. 🪐 But these binary humors and the common interpretation of certain planets as either feminine or masculine may not resonate with someone whose experience of gender and sexuality is more fluid. Dr. Diana Quinn is a multi-hyphenate astrologer, who explores the notion that the planets’ archetypal qualities can be seen as multivalent, understanding that binary associations also contain their opposites. Putting a queer lens on this interpretation creates space for queer and trans people to look to the planets as teachers, wisened by the passage of time and steadfast in their orbits 🌝.

The Jedi Mind Fuck strain of P. cubensis has grown in popularity in the last few years, particularly through amateur mycology groups on social media platforms like Reddit and Instagram. Like many cubensis strains, JMF has been hyped as extra potent, with standard doses between one and three grams getting rave reviews — but the actual data suggests the potency is quite varied. Nevertheless, JMF remains popular and has a reputation for growing particularly large fruits and for growing aggressively.

If you have ever taken a handful of lavender flowers, rubbed them between your palms, and breathed in their scent, you may have felt immediate sensations of relaxation, elevation, and calm all at the same time. Lavender is known for its soothing and calming properties, and many people turn to lavender oil for those benefits on a more everyday basis. Making your own lavender essential oil allows you to control the purity and quality, ensuring it is free from additives and synthetic ingredients.

Psych-delics have long been intertwined with the rich tapestry of the LGBTQ+ community. 🌈 Chacruna's Queering Psych-delics course delves into the invaluable contributions of queer individuals to the psychedelic movement while addressing the harms of heteronormative assumptions. As psych-delics gain mainstream interest and regulatory legitimacy, @chacruna.institute aims to foster accessibility and diversity by dismantling sexist, heteronormative, transphobic, and homophobic oppression within the psychedelic community. 📝 Topics include the impact of patriarchy, self-acceptance, the dark sides of psychedelic research, LGBTQ+ affirmative therapies, queer spirituality, sex positivity, trans and BIPOC issues, Indigenous perspectives, and more. They will also explore how modern psychedelic research can address the unique needs and traumas of sexual and gender minorities. Creating inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ communities to harness the healing power of psych-delics is vital for their empowerment and liberation. 🤝 ✨ Register through the link in our bio and be part of this transformative journey!

Some see witchcraft as an empowering alternative to organized religion, since it emphasizes people’s individual relationship to the earth and spirit realm. Some also see it as feminist reclamation of a label that has historically been used to punish women. Witchcraft means different things to different people, today but generally involves a spiritual connection to nature and a belief in the power of intuition. If witchcraft intrigues you, you may want to check out these great books about its ancient yet intriguingly varied and modern practices. Link in bio
