d o u t z e n More proof that the Dutch produce some of the most beautiful women in the world! After sending Polaroids to a local model agency, once dreams of becoming a pro figure skater began to wane, it wasn’t long until Doutzen was dominating the world of fashion! Becoming the second Dutch beauty to become an “Angel” ( Karen Mulder being the first ), she soon became a secret that Victoria could no longer keep. Editorials, covers, red carpets, runways, lucrative cosmetics contracts, and movie sets are all something the Supermodel is well accustomed to over her 20+ years in the industry. Her athletic and curvy aesthetic set her apart amongst her peers, and soon caught the attention of some of the worlds top fashion photographers. Everyone from Mario Testino, Demarchelier, Mert & Marcus, Terry Richardson, and Inez & Vinoodh ( amongst others ), have managed to capture Doutzen at her most beautiful, and help her create one of the most enviable portfolios in the industry. There are so many memorable images, but some of my favourites are those captured by Testino, in particular an editorial for Allure magazines October 2008 issue. Styled by Paul Cavaco, it is simply breathtaking! Then of course there are the Versace, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana campaigns, her philanthropic work with “Knot My Planet” & “Dance4Life” ( a non profit in which educates youth about HIV and AIDS prevention through song and dance ), wife & mother of two, Doutzen puts the “Super” in Supermodel. Remaining just as relevant today as she did over two decades ago, she ( like so many of the greats ) is that familiar face we so crave in the fickle world of fashion. *Fun Fact* In 2013, Doutzen became the first Supermodel to score four solo September Vogue Covers, China, Spain, Italy, and Netherlands!
