Nate returns to talk about his gig this past weekend at Tex Mex Connection and his recent appearance on the @nextfavband podcast before sitting down to chat with singer/songwriter/filmmaker Paige Stark. They start things off bonding over a mutual love of Harry Nilsson and David Bowie before diving in to growing up in Laguna Beach, how MTV was a gateway to a love of music and film, finding inspiration in Lisa Simpson, songwriting and her first solo show, Stone Darling, singing with Taylor Goldsmith and Alex Greenwald, singing harmony, Tashaki Miyaki, Takashi Miike, genre films, her upcoming Film Independent backed short, The Other Side, keeping “office hours,” the Love LA compilation, collaborating with @marcmaron , cover songs, the Tashaki Miyaki cover of “The Beautiful Ones” by Prince, working with Jon Brion on the Good At Love EP and the plan for the new record. I have a new song out today. It’s called “Ur Girl” & it’s one of my favorite recordings I’ve made. I recorded it impromptu years ago with Jon when there was some leftover studio time from another session. Matt Chamberlain was there and played drums. Later Jon and I added this synth loop. I wanted the song to have more texture and some kind of otherworldly element and Jon is great at that. We recorded the final touches earlier this year while mixing so it’s a song from many eras. It’s streaming now wherever you stream. Enjoy 🤍
