If you know, you know. 👀 There’s still time to sign our petition on the renewal of Fort Myer’s air quality permit for their MBT plant. Link can be found in our bio.

Join us as we work to #KeepEckingtonBeautiful at our next neighborhood cleanup! All community members are invited for treats, socializing, and keeping our community clean! We especially encourage anyone interested in EP&A leadership positions to attend for an opportunity to talk with current board members. We will meet up at Yang’s (138 U St NE) at 10AM, where we’ll hand out gloves and bags. We still have some free drink tickets for Lost Generation Brewing Company if you clean with us for at least an hour. Sign up via the link in bio to let us know you’re joining!

EP&A is looking for neighbors to get involved next year! Consider running for a position on our board or leading/joining a committee. Standing board positions include President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Communications and Public Relations Director, with the potential to add positions annually at the board's discretion. Our next community meeting and board elections will be held on JANUARY 24, 2024, from 7 - 7:45pm. EP&A is a neighbor-run non-profit group that looks out for the interests of Eckington and nearby communities. We manage the dog park, advocate for green spaces, help keep the neighborhood clean, organize events, and more. With many paid members and volunteers, connections to city leaders, and a newsletter mailing list of over 500 people, our Friends organization is poised to continue doing amazing things and have a positive impact on our community. We can be flexible and tailor positions to your interests and skills. To learn more about EP&A, check out our website and email us at eckingtonparks@gmail.com by December 24 to let us know. We can set up a time to chat about opportunities to make our community amazing!

Don’t miss the Tour de Trails: Metropolitan Branch Trail on Saturday, September 30th from 11AM to 1PM! The DC Trail Rangers are celebrating 10 years of helping to make the trails welcoming, inclusive, frequently used, and in a state of good repair - and we wouldn't be able to do it without YOU. Please join us in marking the occasion by going for a bike ride where we'll be stopping at some near-by businesses along the trail. At the end of the ride, Lost Generation Brewing Co has generously agreed to host us for a post-ride celebration where they will be offering $5 shift beer for participants. Make sure to stop by the EPA table before heading out on the ride! RSVP via link in bio. 🚴‍♂️🎉

Eckington Parks & Arts' hearts go out to our community members who lost beloved animal family members in Monday's flash flood on Rhode Island Ave. Unexpected loss is often the most difficult to endure, and it shouldn't be shouldered alone. 💔 Dog park community members are planning a remembrance at the Eckington Dog Park on Thursday evening around 8 pm. EP&A will also be looking into ways to commemorate and acknowledge such loss.

Eckington, we have a trash problem. 🗑️❗️ Are you still upset about the state of the park after July 4th? Are you sick of walking past litter on your walk to work? Channel that energy and join us for our monthly neighborhood cleanup with @eckington.civic.association TOMORROW at 10AM outside @yangmarketdc . We’ll be targeting 2nd and 3rd streets NE between Rhode Island and R. Need a little incentive to get there? We’ve got you covered. The first 20 volunteers will receive a “Keep Eckington Beautiful” t-shirt and anyone who cleans for more than an hour is eligible for a FREE drink ticket from @lostgenbrewing ! Spend time with your neighbors, get a cool t-shirt and free beer, and most importantly, do your part to #keepeckingtonbeautiful . 🚮❤️

Thank you to everyone who made yesterday’s Navy Band concert a huge success! We love bringing the community together in our neighborhood green spaces for events 🎶 While our team ensured the park was thoroughly cleaned after the concert, unfortunately, by this morning, it was completely littered with trash. Thank you to the @noma.bid team for taking on the overwhelming task of restoring the park and making it clean and safe again. One of Eckington Parks & Arts main missions is to #KeepEckingtonBeautiful and help make the neighborhood and green spaces clean and trash free. On days like today, that feels like a losing battle. Our ask to community members is this: PLEASE report any activities to EP&A and NoMa BID that may be producing large amounts of litter (include pics/videos/identifying info) and join us for our monthly community cleanups. Our next cleanup is Saturday July 15th—we hope to see you there! #keepeckingtonbeautiful
