Remember that time my dear friend (before Cancer took our beacon of light of our Nyc community and major player in all our lives back then and cosmic individual still - unbounded / eternal) Roland Legiardi-Laura seated at the Nuyorican poets cafe in alphabet city wrote five names down of casting directors to call as a young actor moved to New York from London. After a couple of weeks I made the first call, Judy Henderson (ever grateful) came on the phone and I said what Roland instructed me to say. That was all. A few hours later I was walking across Central Park and spinning around her office on a chair. I didn’t have a headshot yet. I didn’t have an agent. She asked me to come back the next day with a picture. David Cale was sitting easily, with a lovely relaxation of spirit and the warmth and twinkling eyed empathy and deep intelligence that if you are lucky enough to know him and / or worked along side him you will have basked in the light of. It’s the kind of light that grows spirits. He’s the kind of actor who shows up to the theatre two hours early EVERY night to walk the play backstage - only other actor I know with this level of dedication was Sir Derek Jacobi when I worked with him on Uncle Vanya by Chekhov in the West End as a earnest teenager coming up in theatre in London. Bravo. Always. I feel so lucky and fortunate to see my most natural and humble old nyc / east coast off Broadway theater brother shine ✨ on screen again with this great team. Inspired by everyone’s work on this film. I do my best not to read reviews (respectfully critics hee hee) love to eat my snacks and watch movies. Simple pleasures. Wow 🤩 @jodiemcomer hullo beating heart of the film with a rawness that feels so jump time - days of heaven / badlands / raging bull like for some emotional truth / private moment reason. Oh 🌹☀️🦢👌🏻 feelings of the ride out. Sweet cinematic spell. Holy hotness Tom Hardy’s inside out artistic human homage to Marlon Brando is untouchable 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 I love the humor and social / emotional truth / cultural commentary of this movie the director lifts to art.
