Last week I hung up my grips and officially “retired” from the sport of gymnastics. While I still love the sport, the constant pain I was in, multiple injuries, and mental setbacks trying to catch up after injury were making me stressed and miserable. While it was hard to say goodbye to my teammates, coaches, and the sport, I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me. I’m not sure what my path will be, but figuring it out will be part of the fun. Please remember, you are more than your sport and there is a huge life out there to live. I stuck around longer than I should have because I was scared to try something else. Gymnastics is all I’ve ever known and I thought of it as my identity. It’s not. I’m excited to see where I end up. Hopefully I’ll find something I love just as much and I’m looking forward to healing (both physically and mentally) and experiencing new things. 💕. To my old team, coaches, and gym- I wish you nothing but the best this season and moving forward. I’ll always be your biggest fan!
