Hi everyone - Sandifer here. It’s been hard to find adequate words for this - and a slide of 10 images simply doesn’t suffice either when talking about this. On May 16, we lost
@emilysomers to a rare type of lung cancer. It’s unreal and hard to wrap our brains around how quickly life can change.
My thoughts are daily with Em’s wonderful husband
@geordie.robinson , her entire family, and all of her friends.
I met Emily in 2019. We instantly hit it off and I am so happy she saw me fit to take on
@intothevalleyfilm with her, a passion project she had been working on with
@ohlanaturner since 2017.
We’ve seen the highest and lowest of each other, cried, laughed, bitched, and bickered together - and I will never forget her turning to me in the theatre at
@alameda_filmfest in February to say, “We should be really proud of what we did.” I am so happy she felt this way about ITV. I wished she had been able to make every screening, but so grateful we were together at that one and that she was able to see it on the big screen finally, especially at a festival so dear to her heart (she learned how to drive in Alameda and it was minutes away from where she grew up).
That’s all I can put together right now. I will continue to share memories and updates on Into the Valley, as she left unfinished business: “…promise to reply soon when I’m feeling better❤️🙏.”
This breaks my heart that these were her last words to me.
I’m not sure yet what the future holds for carrying on or not with what she ultimately wanted to have happen with Into the Valley, but I am so incredibly humbled and thankful we finished the short version of it and have her on film to remember always.
Last slide: the last day of production, Em leading a cheers with
@geordie.robinson ,
@teejatron ,
@sydney.stephenson_tvfilm @syddaws ,
@ohlanaturner , and myself.

Love you, Em. 🕊️💔
