So in a few weeks we’re gonna bring my boat allll the way around from South Park and anchor right off the T-dock and play for you. And we’ll be joined by writer-of-beautiful-songs @bellaporter from LA!

Readings interspersed with short sets of weirdo pop music — come early and watch the night unfold with us on one of the first long long nights of summer
Nich took this instax of Brian, me, Bryan, and Jake wrapping up a session in September 2019 at the Unknown, shortly before Brian moved to LA. We recorded the Tomten cover of ‘Yellow Roses’ by Heron and then recorded a bunch of odds and ends that we all had kicking around. Aimless, not sure what song would end up on whose record, or if they’d go anywhere at all. We didn’t realize it in the moment, but ‘Artichoke’, the 5th Tomten LP, was taking nascent shape in the void. Brian moved back to Seattle after getting famous in LA in only 6 months, and we continued picking at away at each other’s songs. After a few years of regular appointments with our dear friend and collaborator Nich Wilbur, we had the finished thing in our hands. They never really feel ‘finished’. But in the long buildup to this moment — where we finally have the records here, ready to share with you — I’m joyful to say we feel really proud of this one, and can’t wait for you to hear it in full. It was a joyful, long, curious, often hilarious, sometimes frustrating, transcendent process. ‘Artichoke’ was born from our love for each other, and our love for making songs.
