I've written my version of a simple guide to creating an ANTI CAT TORTURE PROTEST. This is not a definitive, comprehensive guide, just my personal tips to starting one. This guide is also available on the @feline_guardians website.
Generally, I think most celebrities are too removed from true grassroots activism to fully comprehend the difficulty and nuance of it. They tend to overestimate the impact of their "rah-rah! we can make a difference" soapbox speeches, like this one.
That being said, every year, people forget about the lives massacred at the #Yulin dog meat festival throughout Asia. The least this video will do is make you uncomfortable - I want you to be uncomfortable. If you're uncomfortable, you're thinking about the animals. If you're thinking about the animals, you won't forget them.
Do not forget the thousands of dogs and other animals that are going to be boiled alive, skinned alive, fried alive, bludgeoned, slashed, hanged, dismembered, and beaten to death over the next 10 days because their pain and suffering "makes the meat taste nicer."
There is no easy solution to shutting down Yulin. I'm not even sure I can provide good resources to help you get involved, but I can remind you that there is always work to be done. As we don our shorts and sunglasses and head outside for a summer of fun, sentient creatures are suffering to death for a stupid, barbaric tradition. Remember these victims and share their story.

NYC activists are speaking up for hundreds of thousands of tortured and mutilated cats in the Chinese cat torture rings.
Cats and other animals are being tortured, mutilated, and murdered by pychopaths - doctors, lawyers, men, women, teens, and children, everyday people - and they are going UNCHECKED by the Chinese government and law enforcement.
We are here in solidarity with the small number of Chinese activists who are being silenced and cannot speak up for the animals as they would wish to.
Animals are sentient feeling beings - just like us. They are not here for us; they are here with us. We do not have the right to use or abuse them for ANY reason.
If you wish to see justice be served , GET INVOLVED. It might not happen today, tomorrow, or in 10 years, but doing NOTHING is always the wrong choice when faced with this kind of evil.

This one goes out to all the folks who think it's their "right" to buy animals from breeders. That their "decision" to pay for new, cute, "untainted" animals is a choice that hurts no one. As an animal rescuer myself, I pitty those people so wholly consumed with their own self-satisfaction and blissful ignorance that they are not willing to pull the metaphorical lever that would save someone's life.
For every pet you buy, one gets placed in a garbage bag. Their bodies are thrown in the trash or, in some cases, are rendered into pet food...the same pet food you feed your $3,000 trophy pet. There is no such thing as RESPONSIBLE BREEDING when we are the cause of overpopulated shelters. We have a responsibility to rescue these animals from the situation we've put them in. Purchase a pet, and another pet's blood is on your hands.
Oh, and also, SPAY and NEUTER your pets!! And DO not let your pets outside unaltered.
Join us June 19th, 6pm, in WSP to raise public awareness about cat torture. We will hand out flyers, hold posters, engage with the public, and encourage them to follow and take action.
We will likely have a vegan public outreach event right after for an hour or two.

Meet Faith. Faith is up for adoption in the New York City and surrounding areas (Westchester).
Faith was rescued from the streets in April. Faith is one of the sweetest cats they've ever had. Faith is all about the love! She is not very interested in playing with toys. Instead, her main pastime is following her human around wherever they go. Faith's endearing clinginess is likely the result of having been abandoned :( Faith likes to be picked up and held, snuggled, and she gives an exorbitant amount of kisses and nose boops. She will stare lovingly into her human's eyes to show her gratitude for being saved. A hard worker, Faith is also known to dabble in the air biscuit-making business.
Faith is not a fan of other cats, so she should be in a single-cat household with no dogs and no children. She would be an exceptionally perfect companion for a retiree seeking constant presence and affection. Her adopter should be patient with her and allow her time to adjust to her surroundings due to her nervous behavior.

Post march, there was a Cube of Truth outreach event with @anonymousforthevoiceless . We educated the public on veganism and held them accountable for the actions they take that continue to subjugate animals.
There are AV chapters in cities throughout the world. Find your local chapter and get involved.
