Hello! It’s me, Davida Buggs, the woman behind the Flowers by Lady Buggs blooms. It’s been far too long since my last intro and I thought I’d share a bit about me. I’m a native Angeleno but lived in Santa Barbara for 16 years. At one point I thought I’d never leave but life throws you curve balls and LA called me home. I moved, met and married my handsome husband and we have our two incredible boys. I’m so blessed to be in this beautiful floral design industry. Not only do I get to design for beautiful couples but I also work shoulder to shoulder with some talented creatives, many that have become friends. And when I can, I do a bit of freelancing which has opened new doors and experiences. I truly love what I do! In my career, there’ve been times when a planner sends over a mood board, and I can just tell the event is going to be something special. That’s exactly what happened with Jordan and Nick’s wedding. The moment I laid eyes on their thoughtfully crafted timeless and romantic mood board, it was clear that their wedding was destined to be extraordinary. Watching everything fall into place was just amazing – from Jordan totally owning that thigh-high slit gown (seriously, she killed it), to the timeless beauty of the Ebell of Long Beach, the charming bow details, and the amazing team of pros I had the privilege of working with for such a lovely couple. Let’s talk about designing with purple. While blush and white are by far the most popular wedding colors, I have a deep appreciation for incorporating more vibrant hues into the wedding day. I loved the touches of purple, lavender and periwinkle blue that made Ryan and Melissa’s wedding so uniquely their own and such a dream to design. I must say that their color palette was something that I just can’t get enough of. Working with my clients and getting to know their unique love stories is an absolute joy and a constant source of inspiration for my floral design business. Every couple has a special story that adds so much depth to my creative process, allowing me to create designs that are not only beautiful but also incredibly personal. The connections we build during our time together leave a lasting impression on me, as their love stories become a part of my own journey. Amidst the enchanting setting of “The Glass Church” or Wayfarer’s Chapel, Katelinn’s tropical family-filled fete becomes a heartfelt tribute to the groom’s time in Hawaii and their love for one another. Infusing the celebration with island charm, their wedding is adorned with soft tropical hues, ginger flowers, and anthurium. A special touch is added as the groom and groomsmen proudly wear Maile Leis throughout the day, a unique feature that I happily embraced as my first attempt at crafting these symbolic pieces. Designing bouquets, by far, is my favorite. And creating the bouquets for Alexis and her bridesmaids was an especially fun, enjoyable and an unforgettable experience. The hoop bouquets for the bridesmaids, filled with anthurium and philodendron, brought a refreshing change and an adorable charm. I hope to see more requests for these delightful pieces in the future. As for Alexis' bouquet, it was an absolute beauty. Incorporating the light pink ginger was a challenge due to unforeseen circumstances with my wholesaler's shipment being confiscated by California Agriculture. Needless to say, I managed to source the elusive ginger and paired it elegantly with roses, sweet peas, and ranunculus, resulting in a truly enchanting masterpiece. So thankful to have had the opportunity to design these beauties!
