What are the stories that shape your perception of the world and yourself? How can we create alternative narratives within our communities to mobilize change?
In ‘Futuristic Ancestry: Warping Matter and Space-time(s)’, artist Josèfa Ntjam explores collective histories as well as her own memories, seeking to deconstruct these dominant narratives and uncover a new, liberated future.
Through the images of African mythologies, ancestral rituals and Cameroonian independence movements, Ntjam highlights the transformative power of community to create new realities. Her work parallels human resistance with the resilience of nature, blending references from biology and science fiction. In the exhibition, you will be immersed in multi-sensory installations with biomorphic sculptures, video art, and photomontages.
Experience Ntjam’s visionary world, at Fotografiska Berlin from June 14 until October 6.
Opening on 25 April 2024, Elizaveta Porodina’s new exhibition, Un/Masked, invites us to peer behind our masks, holding up a mirror to ourselves. Her abstract and surrealist photographs, in the interplay of light, color, and shadow, also reflect her inner world.
“I grant my audience a window into my subconscious with my work.”
In Un/Masked, Porodina invites us to reflect on human nature. As a trained clinical psychologist, she is intrigued by emotion-driven behavior. She sees her art as an experiment, exploring the hidden and contradictory sides of ourselves. At its core are people, each their own universe yearning to connect with others.

On view at Fotografiska Berlin until August 18.
Our first Couture Merch collection is a collaboration with Berlin-based designer Lucas Meyer Leclère. Drawing inspiration from the multi-layered history of the building in which Fotografiska Berlin resides, the pieces are a daring fusion of past and present.
Vintage lace from the 1930s, seen on some pieces, references the early 20th century when the building was a popular shopping center for Berlin’s elite. The action painting style and multiple pigment layers represent the influence of the Tacheles artist squat.
Embody Berlin’s cultural heritage with this unique collection – discover the pieces at the link in bio.

In the past two weeks, the magical world of Josèfa Ntjam has welcomed its first Berlin visitors. “Futuristic Ancestry” is a journey that encompasses themes of resistance, community, and identity, and fuses multiple media to create unique perspectives.
As the title of the exhibition suggests, Josèfa Ntjam’s art relies on ancestry to talk about and put forward new ways of approaching the future. Influenced by her research into molecular biology and quantum physics, Josèfa Ntjam’s work often references biology as a parallel to human communities of resistance. She highlights resilience, healing, and adaptation seen in nature and points to the collective power to redefine old beliefs.

We are thrilled to welcome you to the first exhibition in our Emerging Berlin program – Anne Lass’ “Triple Seven”.
Recording the disappearing gambling halls of Berlin, her photographs appeal through their striking colors and composition, and invoke feelings of nostalgia.
Anne Lass inspires us to observe the present moment and the ever-changing nature of the city, to contemplate the unique features of Berlin, and to find beauty in things we walk past every day.
