Today the UK government announced the new guidelines for RSHE (Relationships, Sex, and Health Education). The new guidance is eerily similar to Section 28, and will cause nothing but harm. Once again, the Conservative government are demonising trans people under the guise of “protecting children”. This, alongside the ruling to ban puberty blockers and the guidance for gender questioning children, essentially denies the existence of trans kids. I am genuinely concerned for the safety of trans youth here in the UK. Contest this guidance before 11th July, and for gods sake, save trans kids.

Still here. Still valid. 🏳️‍⚧️ As Transgender Day of Visibility rolls around once again, today marks 9 years since I publicly came out as nonbinary. Every year I reflect upon the political and social minefield that transgender people such as myself have to navigate, and I always hope that next year will be better. But in reality, this is not the case. In the year ending March 2023, the UK saw an 11% increase in hate crimes against the transgender community, which marked an 186% increase between 2018-2023. It saddens but doesn’t shock me that in 2024, “41% of LGBTQ young people seriously considered attempting su*cide in the past year - and young people who are transgender, nonbinary, and/or people of colour reported higher rates than their peers” in the US. There is a tirade of hate aimed at my community across the globe, and I have witnessed the impact that transphobia, intolerance, and unsupportive social circles and familial units has on transgender individuals. I am very fortunate and privileged to be surrounded by a supportive and loving community, but it breaks my heart that this is not the case for the majority of people like me. Cisgender allies, I urge you to continue to be vocal about your support of the trans community, challenge bigotry, and celebrate trans joy. It’s fucking hard out here, but I vow to continue to be so fucking loud about my identity, and unabashedly proud of being nonbinary. ⚠️ Warning, this video contains some flashing lights ⚠️ Notable moments of 2023: Quit cheffing. Was at risk of redundancy. Clawed my job back. Did more lights than ever. Made new friends & developed existing relationships. Grew my professional network. Attended 6 festivals (worked 5). Switched up the live band (IEMs & playback rig have been a game changer). Lit a music video. Started working with the coolest lighting engineer. Rerigged my favourite venue. Became a lecturer. Had the opportunity to work 4 shows with one of my favourite artists. Lit 17 unique stages (9 of which were new to me this year). Loved myself more than ever before. The list of acknowledgments for 2023 is simply too long, but I want to give a few mentions to some people who have really stuck in my mind this year. I started & ended the year with my best mates in the whole world @jesswatmore & @hayleymarshian . @jakedchesters , @alice_seymour_ , @poppylauryn , @f4wnskin - the best housemates a guy could ask for. @badliana_ - I lit my first music video thanks to you, and it felt incredibly special. One of my fave artists @delilahbonofficial & her beautiful team @itsruena , @giveemhela , @helenlouisetate , @olivia_tatedesign , @tomidsch - 4 shows together and countless memories, I cherish every single one of you, it was a dream come true to be a part of this. @faylenehan , thank you for all the monumental career opportunities. Andrew from @exchangebristol , thanks for letting me rerig my favourite venue. The @bimm_bristol Massive, be it the estates team, lecturers, or students - this year was hectic, but we made it. That's a wrap for Frankie Delta live 2023, and what a way to go. Huge thank you to @landcaptains for having us on board for the last Delta show of the year, it was a fucking pleasure to work with you again and an honour to open the show. Thank you @karmen.field for such a phenomenal main support performance, and also just being such wonderful human beings. Thank you @gaebkeeler for making us both sound and look good, you always do such a cracking job and we trust you every time we see you behind the desk. Thank you @crofters_rights for having us, you've always been one of my fave venues and it felt so special to end the year in your space. Thank you @sh_photography_uk for these absolutely beautiful shots, it's no wonder Land Captains enlisted you for the gig. Thank you @km.drums & @isaac_denton for joining me on this journey and bringing my songs to life, you both add so much to the live show and I cannot praise you enough for your dedication and creativity. And finally, thank you to every single one of you who came to the show. To send the year off with a room full of such enthusiastic, kind, passionate people felt really special. To be able to play my silly little songs in front of you all and have them so well received is a blessing, and I appreciate each and every one of you.
