‘Shadow on My Light’ is the new album from @maddykirgo and it’s coming August 16th! The first single, “Try Harder”, is out now. Link in bio to listen to the track where you do and also think about pre-ordering a LP, CD, or cassette! Maddy and @rettrogers also made this gorgeous video for “Try Harder” for you to check out. It’s premiering over at @pastemagazine today. Here’s a little of what Maddy wrote for them about the track: 
“I started writing this song in February of 2021 as the world was just sort of opening up again, and I was trying to figure out how I wanted to re-enter society,” Kirgo says of “Try Harder.” “It seemed like everyone I followed on social media at the time was thriving, and I was about to start feeling like shit, but then I was like, ‘Oh yeah, none of that is real! Ha! So this is my lament on being a confused young person, just trying my best most of the time. This was the first song I wrote with the intention of it being on a full-length album, and I think it sets the general tone of the record. This is also the first song we recorded. Nick [Corson], Duncan [Troast] and I really got to know each other on this track! We spent hours playing around with sounds and really took our time with it.” And also Maddy is on the road with @chrisacker_growthsprout and the gang starting tomorrow. New album “Again! Again!” is out in the world in full today via @tape_dad ! Find it wherever you might stream music (and once you find it, give it a spin why not!) This record has been a curious culmination of my last five or so years — keeping one foot back home in Seattle and one in New Orleans, I’ve found great strength in the support and teachings of both of my communities. The process itself truly encompassed all of these blessings. Writing the songs sometimes at home in New Orleans, sometimes in my childhood bedroom in Seattle, sometimes on tour supporting @chrisacker_growthsprout , @deanjohnsongs or @sonsofrainier in the quiet moments. Finding, through Devin Champlin, a studio on the coast of the puget sound @anacortesunknownstudio , filling it with one of my oldest friends (Charlie Meyer) some of my closest collaborators from New Orleans (@ginarly @samdoores @h0we0nearth ) and wrapping it up in the living room New Orleans home with @yesiammattbell and Ross of @videoageband — the sentimental bases are pretty well covered here. The picture on the album cover, taken by @kendallrock is of me next to my favorite tree. It’s a willow over lake Washington whose roots make a perfect ladder down to the water.
